Senior Lead Software Engineer role on the Consumer & Community Banking Deposits platform at JPMorgan Chase, working as a core technical contributor within an agile team. Responsible for designing, developing, reviewing, and operating secure, scalable Java/Spring-based microservices and event-driven systems in cloud environments. Leads technical evaluations, drives adoption of modern tooling (containers, CI/CD, streaming), mentors engineers, and focuses on operational stability and automation.

As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer & Community Banking Deposits platform, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.
Job responsibilities
- Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
- Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
- Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems
- Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture
- Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies
- Adds to team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience
- Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
- Experience using Java, spring based technologies and event based microservices in AWS / Cloud environment
- Experience with distributed systems and cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc.)
- Experience with micro services/RESTful API, relational/NoSQL databases, data modeling and data ingestion frameworks
- Hands-on experience with data streaming and messaging frameworks (Kafka, Spark, etc.)
- Understanding of dependency injection frameworks (Spring / Spring Boot, etc.)
- Be an active developer and contributor to the team’s delivery. Take the lead on solving and implementing difficult technology challenges and drive our team to successful delivery
- Understanding of containers (Dockers, Kubernetes, Helm, etc.)
- Expand unit testing automation suite capabilities by integrating tests into CI/CD pipeline; ensuring 100% documentation & unit testing of all code delivered
- Hands-on development experience working with core enterprise-based Java technologies
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Cloud certification. Practical cloud native experience
- Lead and mentor engineers. Work closely with development, QA, and operations teams to integrate performance testing and automation into the software development lifecycle
Design and implement robust automation frameworks and tools to support continuous integration and delivery
