Job Description

We’re seeking an experienced and highly skilled engineering leader to drive the architecture, delivery, and operational excellence of platforms that power JPMorgan’s Alternative Investments business.

As a Senior Vice President, you will set technical direction, lead teams, and partner closely with product, architecture, controls, and business stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable, and resilient systems for a portfolio that spans over $170bn in assets and 300+ fund investments across private equity, growth equity & venture capital, private credit, private real estate, and private infrastructure.

 

Job responsibilities

  • Lead and actively contribute to the design, development, and deployment of high-quality applications aligned to the Alternatives business.
  • Build event-driven Java, Spring Boot microservices; contribute directly to the codebase.
  • Architect and operate scalable systems leveraging Kafka, k8s, MSK and AWS services.
  • Drive program collaboration across cross-functional teams.
  • Drive adoption of domain-driven design; participate in and guide architecture discussions.
  • Define and maintain documentation of service APIs (e.g. Swagger/OpenAPI).
  • Lead and participate in code reviews; enforce high maintainability through TDD/BDD practices.
  • Validate service scalability and resilience using mock testing frameworks and performance testing strategies.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers, fostering a collaborative, growth-oriented culture.
  • Add to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.

 

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on Software Engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience. In addition, 2 + years of experience leading technologists to manage and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise
  • Advanced proficiency in Java with strong willingness to code hands-on.
  • Extensive  experience delivering Java and Spring/Spring Boot systems at scale.
  • Strong experience with CI/CD, DevOps toolchains, and agile, test-driven delivery.
  • Expert proficiency in testing frameworks like JUnit, TestNG, and Cucumber.
  • Deep understanding of microservices, REST APIs, SQL and NoSQL databases, event-driven architectures.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, and grow engineering talent.

 

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services (e.g. ECS, S3, Lambda) and proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform.
  • Familiarity with full-stack application development.
  • Experience with AI coding tools like GitHub Copilot, Cline, Claude Code.
  • Proven ability to solve complex problems; excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Continuous learner and early adopter of emerging technologies and practices.
