The Team
Join our Market Data Platform team at the heart of a quantitative investment firm, powering the infrastructure which drives our systematic trading strategies and cutting-edge discretionary research.
You’ll help architect a multi-petabyte scale estate, processing billions of datapoints daily from thousands of data sources. Our stack combines Java and Python, with foundations of Kafka, ArcticDB, MongoDB, and more. This is an opportunity to tackle complex distributed systems challenges at exceptional scale. You should have the enthusiasm for leveraging AI development tools to accelerate delivery and driving their adoption across the team.
Financial knowledge is not essential - we are looking for highly skilled, motivated engineers who are excellent communicators and keen to learn.
Key Competencies
You will be a keen and self-motivated Java software developer. You’ll be a member of a highly-focused team with an exceptionally broad responsibility, so great communication skills and an ability to work as part of a team are a must.
Required
- Strong academic record and a degree with high mathematical and computing content e.g. Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or Physics
- 3+ years of professional experience in software engineering with Java or Python as your primary language
- Proficient on Linux platforms and strong understanding of Git
- Deep knowledge of one or more relevant database technologies such as Iceberg, Postgres, or MongoDB
- Embracing agentic engineering — willingness and ability to work effectively with AI-assisted development tools as part of daily workflow
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities
- Ability to work independently and gather requirements from stakeholders
Advantageous but not required
- Familiarity with distributed systems and orchestration
- Experience with performance optimization and large-scale data processing
- Contributions to open-source projects
- Experience working with Large Language Models (LLMs)
