Lead the Java Chapter in Danske Bank's Welcoming & Orchestration Tribe in Vilnius, responsible for the growth and performance of about 12 developers. Set goals, conduct performance reviews, and develop guidelines and best practices to improve chapter execution. Participate in leadership activities, planning, recruitment, and occasionally contribute as a Java developer in a squad. The role blends people leadership with hands-on coding in a cross-border, agile environment across Lithuania, Denmark, Poland and India, within a digital acceleration journey centered on onboarding and product ordering.

In the Welcoming & Orchestration Tribe, we are responsible for Welcoming new customers joining Danske Bank and ensuring existing customers can order the products they want digitally and fast.
We’re on a digital acceleration journey where self-service is the way forward. Onboarding and product ordering are a strategic priority for Danske Bank where we’re tasked with developing scalable solutions with high attention to delivering great customer experience.
You’ll be joining an agile team of highly skilled IT professionals working closely together in an informal atmosphere across Lithuania, Denmark, Poland and India. We want you as part of our Vilnius team.
We are looking for a person who has a strong technical understanding (senior/chief developer level and/or tech lead) with existing leadership experience or an interest in leadership and find it fun to grow through others. You will find a culture that embraces freedom under responsibility and with the opportunity to mix leadership and hands-on coding.
*Depending on your experience and knowledge, we may offer you a different seniority level for the role.
You will:
- Be the HR manager for about 12 skilled Java developers, being accountable for their growth both on a professional and personal level
- Conduct goal setting and performance reviews with the Chapter Members
- Develop guidelines incl. best practices to improve the execution of chapter members' responsibilities
- Participate in leadership activities, planning, coordination, recruitment etc.
- Partly work in a squad as a Java developer
- Improve and evolve the craftsmanship by introducing relevant industry topics and trends
About you:
- Leadership experience in leading software development teams
- Quality minded and wanting to lead by example
- Provide coaching to let others flourish
- Ability to make technical and behavioural transformations through others
- Solid Java (Spring Boot) understanding to guide and set best practices
- Advanced English skill

Monthly salary range from 5200 EUR to 7800 EUR gross (based on your competencies relevant for the job).

Your job function (position) in the job contract will be Squad Leader (Chapter Lead). From 1 April 2026 it will be renamed to Software Engineering under our new job architecture, with no impact on the role or responsibilities.
