The Lead Full Stack Developer will be the primary developer responsible for designing, implementing, and enhancing features for the Relationship Management Center application using Java and Angular. The role requires strong leadership, deep Java expertise, and the ability to work independently across the full software development lifecycle while mentoring junior team members.
We are seeking a highly skilled and self-sufficient Lead Full Stack Developer with deep expertise in Java and strong leadership-level experience in Angular development. This role is central to the ongoing development and enhancement of the Relationship Management Center application. The ideal candidate will serve as the primary developer responsible for designing and implementing new features independently, enhancing existing functionality, and supporting Document Management components within the Java ecosystem. This position requires a proactive, independent learner who can take ownership of complex technical challenges and deliver high-quality solutions with minimal oversight. The candidate will work across the full software development lifecycle and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and efficient delivery of enterprise-grade solutions. This position follows our hybrid workstyle policy: Expected to be in a Raymond James office location a minimum of 10-12 days a month. Responsibilities include serving as the Lead Java developer for the Relationship Management Center, driving backend feature development and system enhancements; designing, developing, and implementing scalable and maintainable solutions leveraging Java, Spring, Spring Boot, and related technologies; making informed architectural and technical design decisions; analyzing complex system requirements and translating them into robust technical implementations; supporting, maintaining, and enhancing existing document management functionality within the Java environment; collaborating with business analysts, architects, and other engineering partners to ensure alignment with business goals and enterprise architectural standards; providing technical leadership and mentorship to junior developers and team members; conducting code reviews, contributing to system testing activities, and supporting validation procedures; ensuring adherence to best practices in software engineering, including modular design, secure coding standards, and CI/CD pipelines; staying current with emerging technologies and recommending improvements to enhance overall system quality and performance; and participating in production support rotations and responding to escalated issues as needed. Skills required include 8+ years hands-on experience with Java (Java 8+), Spring, Spring Boot, REST, SOAP, and Microservices; strong understanding of software engineering principles, object-oriented design, and design patterns; experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, integration frameworks, and distributed caching strategies; familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices; exposure to streaming technologies such as Kafka is a plus; experience in financial services or enterprise-scale applications is preferred; excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Preferred skills include experience with Angular or other modern front-end frameworks, demonstrated ability to contribute to architectural discussions and influence technical direction, self-starter with a passion for learning and solving complex problems, ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, and strong leadership and mentoring capabilities. Education required includes Bachelor's degree in Computer and Information Science or Data Science, and High School diploma. Work experience required is 6 to 10 years general and managerial experience. Travel is less than 25%. Workstyle is hybrid.
