The Difference You Make: The Director, Software Development Engineering in Test (SDET), is a hands-on technology and quality engineering leader responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of applications across the enterprise. This role combines deep software engineering expertise with advanced quality engineering practices to design, build, and optimize automated test frameworks, tools, and test suites across UI, API, backend, mobile, and integrated systems for high-availability, secure, and regulated financial platforms. The Director participates throughout the SDLC — from design to deployment — to ensure testability, accelerate releases, and drive an automation-first, quality-focused engineering culture. The role oversees creation of QA work products including test plans, test strategies, test cases, requirements traceability matrices, automation strategies, metrics, and project documentation. The Director partners with Product, Development, PM, BA, and architecture teams and provides leadership-level feedback to Managers and Senior Managers. Responsibilities include analyzing requirements and overseeing design of test plans, leading functional and non-functional testing, developing and maintaining automated test scripts and frameworks, integrating automation into CI/CD pipelines, defect management, SQL-based validation, collaboration with cross-functional teams, overseeing test environments, preparing test documentation and metrics, applying QA methodologies and best practices, leveraging AI/LLM tools for testing, supporting delivery of high-quality applications, managing QA processes, scheduling, risk assessments, stakeholder communication, chairing defect triage, and ensuring compliance with security and privacy policies. What You Bring: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field required; Master's preferred. 9+ years of experience designing and implementing software testing teams and capabilities, with leadership in manual, automated, and performance testing. Strong programming/scripting skills in Java, Python, JavaScript, C#, etc. Expertise with automation frameworks like Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Appium, REST-Assured, JMeter. Deep understanding of QA methodologies, SDLC, Agile, DevSecOps, CI/CD tools. Proficient in SQL and test management tools like JIRA, ALM, Xray. Proficiency with AI-powered testing tools. Strong analytical, communication, documentation, mentoring, project and stakeholder management skills. Experience leading small to mid-sized QA teams and providing feedback to senior leadership. Ability to stay current with emerging technologies. It Would Be Nice For You To Have: Experience with Microsoft Office, cloud QA (AWS or Azure), performance/load testing, security and accessibility testing, knowledge of core banking and payments, and ability to influence engineering direction.
