We’re looking for an experienced Engineering Lead to join our API Experience team. You’ll lead and manage a team of engineers building the tooling and infrastructure that enables partners to securely integrate with Wise's API. This is a unique opportunity to shape the developer experience for major enterprise partners, directly impacting their success and accelerating Wise’s time to revenue.

You will guide your team to deliver a world-class developer experience built on three guiding principles:

• Secure: Champion robust security measures like mTLS and JOSE to protect partner data and meet the stringent security requirements of banks and financial institutions.

• Well-Tooled: Own the development of our self-service developer portal, streamlining processes for credential management and API monitoring.

• Testable: Enhance our Sandbox environment to accurately mirror production, giving partners ultimate confidence before going live.

• Proven experience leading and mentoring an engineering team, with a focus on career growth, delivery, and building an inclusive, high-performing culture.

• A strong technical foundation in designing and building scalable, reliable APIs, an expert on Java, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture.

• Expertise with modern API security standards, including Oauth and mTLS (mutual Transport Layer Security). Exposure to JOSE (JavaScript Object Signing and Encryption) is an advantage.

• A strong product mindset, with the ability to understand partner needs and guide your team in building an excellent developer experience, including developer portals, webhooks and integration testing practices.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
