The team you’ll be working with: Swift - Global Expansion

The Global Expansion team’s mission is to open new routes where Wise customers can’t send money today - ultimately allowing remittence to any beneficiary around the world. The focus is on coverage; opening exotic currencies and countries in bulk in an efficient, scalable way.

This includes utilising Swift - which is the “traditional” way of sending money internationally, and used by Wise to provide coverage in some special use-cases, like sending USD outside the US. Building a fast, predictable money sending product using Swift is an exciting challenge, and part of the team's scope. But Swift and correspondent banking is only one out of many ways the team is considering to provide global coverage, and we are free to use any means to reach yet unreached regions.

Our technology stack includes Java, Kotlin, Kafka messaging and relational databases, but also graphs and machine learning. We work on a daily basis with MT and ISO20022 payment files, Swift GPI, and integrate with PSP APIs.

• You’ll write code and design systems to make Global payment faster, cheaper, and more reliable for our customers

What does it take:

• A strong product mindset, you prioritise work with the customers in mind and make data-driven decisions

• Sense of ownership and great communication skills to drive projects across teams

• You have solid Java or Kotlin knowledge, experience with Spring framework and microservice best practices

• You believe in and follow best coding practices, code reviews and open feedback

• You enjoy writing testable code

• Experience working with relational databases and query optimisation

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Distributed and Concurrent Systems

• Hands on knowledge of system integration patterns

• It’s a plus if you have experience with Swift (the payment network) and related services, and with the ISO20022 standard
