We are seeking a highly experienced Staff Engineer with a front-end architecture focus to join the GenStudio Engineering team. This role is ideal for a technical leader who thrives in complex product environments, has strong opinions grounded in experience, and is passionate about building scalable, high-quality user experiences. You’ll set the architectural direction for large portions of our front-end platform, partnering with Product and Design, and mentoring engineers across teams. You’ll drive the use of modern web technologies (React, TypeScript, Node.js) and define front-end architecture standards across micro-frontends, design systems, and platform services.
As a Staff Engineer, you will set the architectural direction for large portions of our front-end platform, partner closely with Product and Design, and mentor engineers across teams. You’ll operate at both the strategic and hands-on levels—shaping long-term technical decisions while staying close to the code.
What You’ll Do
Architect and evolve large-scale front-end systems using modern web technologies, with a focus on React, TypeScript, and Node.js.
Define and drive front-end architecture standards across micro-frontends, shared component libraries, design systems, and platform services.
Lead technical design for complex, high-impact features that span multiple teams and domains.
Partner with Product, Design, and Backend teams to translate product requirements into scalable, maintainable front-end solutions.
- Establish best practices around performance, accessibility, reliability, security, and developer experience.
- Own key technical decisions and trade-offs, including state management, data fetching patterns, rendering strategies, and build tooling.
- Mentor senior and staff-level engineers, raising the technical bar through design reviews, code reviews, and architecture forums.
- Identify and proactively address front-end platform gaps, tech debt, and scaling challenges.
- Influence roadmap planning by connecting technical investments to product and business outcomes.
- Stay current with the evolving front-end ecosystem and thoughtfully introduce new technologies where they provide clear value.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
10–12+ years of software engineering experience, with deep expertise in front-end development at scale.
Proven experience as a front-end technical lead or architect on complex, production-grade web applications.
Expert-level knowledge of React, TypeScript, modern JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
Strong experience with Node.js and understanding of full-stack web architectures.
- Hands-on experience designing systems using micro-frontends, shared UI platforms, and design systems.
- Deep understanding of browser fundamentals, performance optimization, and rendering strategies.
- Experience working in large codebases with multiple teams and stakeholders.
- Strong architectural judgment—able to balance short-term delivery with long-term maintainability.
- Ability to clearly communicate technical ideas and influence without authority.
Preferred Attributes
- Experience building or scaling platform-level front-end infrastructure used by many teams.
- Familiarity with server-side rendering, edge rendering, or hybrid rendering models.
- Experience integrating front-end applications with complex backend and data services.
- Passion for developer experience, tooling, and productivity.
- Track record of mentoring senior engineers and shaping engineering culture.
- Contributions to open source, internal frameworks, or technical communities.
- Experience building front ends for data-heavy, workflow-driven, or AI-powered products.
