Goldman Sachs’ Multi-Asset Solutions (MAS) team is hiring a Vice President in Software Engineering to build and modernize portfolio construction and implementation platforms used across multiple asset classes. The role partners with MAS investment professionals and an engineering team to design, develop, test, and deploy new platform functionality and data infrastructure. Candidates should have strong software engineering fundamentals, end-to-end ownership, and experience with Node.js/Java and modern web frameworks and databases. The position is based in New York and focuses on delivering production-ready, commercially impactful solutions for institutional clients.
Overview
Multi-Asset Solutions (MAS) is a multi-asset class investment group that operates within the Asset Management Division at Goldman Sachs. It designs and develops comprehensive investment management solutions customized to meet the investment objectives and relevant constraints of clients. These solutions bring together state-of-the-art techniques for multi-asset and liability-hedging portfolio design and implementation and reflect proprietary research and analytics conducted by the MAS team. With investment professionals across the globe, MAS invests or advises on assets for some of the world’s leading corporations, sovereign wealth funds, pension plans, governments, financial institutions, endowments, foundations, and family offices.

Responsibilities
- This role involves partnering with the MAS investment group and an energetic engineering team to build a portfolio construction and implementation platform that supports order generation across multiple asset classes.
- Modernize the data platform supporting the investment process.
- Collaborate with MAS investment professionals to design, build, test, and enhance software features throughout the development lifecycle.
- Develop new platform functionality from the ground up, aligning with firm principles and leveraging your creativity and technical expertise.
- Work closely with stakeholders to iterate on designs and refine products for maximum commercial impact.
- Integrate new tools and workflows into existing systems in partnership with other teams.
- Take ownership of projects end-to-end, applying sound design and development practices.
- Engage in a collaborative, customer-centric team environment focused on delivering impactful solutions.
Skills & Experience
- 5–7 years of hands-on development experience (Node.js, Java, or full-stack) with exposure to the complete software development lifecycle
- Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and design patterns.
- Knowledge of Python, experience developing agentic workflows, and familiarity with other emerging technologies are a plus.
- Experience with modern deployment practices(Containerization: Docker; Orchestration: Kubernetes) and DevOps practices is a plus.
- Proficiency in Node.js, Java, or another object-oriented programming languages.
- Experience with JavaScript frameworks such as Angular or React, and familiarity with HTML5 and CSS.
- Relational database experience (e.g., Sybase, SingleStore) and/or NoSQL database experience (e.g., MongoDB).
- Ability to maintain commercial focus and drive for quantifiable business impact.
- Demonstrated strong work ethic, ownership, and a sense of urgency.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with subject matter experts.

Salary Range
The expected base salary for this New York, New York, United States-based position is $130000-$250000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
