Join the OneDrive & SharePoint Experiences team as a Software Engineer II, building web application platform technologies for Office365 and beyond. You will work with TypeScript, React, and C++ to deliver fast, reliable progressive web apps, leveraging Service Worker and WebView2, and collaborate with PMs and designers to ship secure, scalable code. You will use data to guide engineering decisions and ensure deployment reliability with metrics and alerts, while growing with a mature engineering culture that embraces AI.

As part of our team, you'll help shape the future of these applications, by building out the platform that connects people to the content and experiences that matter most. You'll leverage a wide range of technologies like TypeScript, React, and C++, and build upon platforms like Service Worker and WebView2, creating the bridge that links our applications to their data with unparalleled speed and reliability. Responsibilities
  • We are looking for smart, agile, and intellectually curious engineers who love creating and building web application platform technologies that power customer facing scenarios across Office365 and beyond.
  • You will be working with a team of amazing engineers, PM and designers, and will work closely with our partners across Microsoft to deliver “ultimate” progressive web applications to meet customer needs.
  • As a Software Engineer II, you'll join and help shape the vibrant, inclusive engineering culture of OneDrive & SharePoint.
  • You'll be expected to design and build scalable, tested, and secure code for both new and existing products.
  • You'll leverage data to help drive engineering decisions for yourself and the team.
  • And you'll stand behind what you build, ensuring with metrics and alerting that your code deploys and runs safely and securely across our ecosystem.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 3+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 5+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience building progressive web applications using TypeScript, Service Workers, WebView2, Electron, or React are all major pluses.
  • Experience in developing, debugging and maintaining code in object-oriented languages.
  • Strong coding, debugging, algorithm design and problem-solving skills.
  • Great communication skills to collaborate cross-group and work effectively within the team Ability to deal with ambiguity and prioritize issues.


Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.
