Lead development of internal web platforms powering workflow orchestration, monitoring, permissions, and metadata for a quantitative investment firm. Hands-on role combining full-stack development (front-end and backend services/APIs), architectural decision-making, and technical leadership of a small team. Work closely with internal users to gather requirements and deliver iterative, product-focused features with strong testing and CI/CD practices. Primary technologies include React and Node.js, with emphasis on UX, reusable components, and engineering standards.

Qube Research & Technologies (QRT) is a global quantitative and systematic investment manager, operating in all liquid asset classes across the world. Combining data, research, technology, and trading expertise has shaped QRT’s collaborative mindset which enables us to solve the most complex challenges. QRT’s culture of innovation continuously drives our ambition to deliver high quality returns for our investors.

We’re looking for a Lead Web Engineer to join our Data Engineering team and own key internal platforms used across QRT. You’ll design and build the tools that power workflow orchestration, monitoring, permissions, and metadata -core components for our researchers and engineers.

You’ll lead the development of our next generation of internal web apps. The role is hands-on with technical leadership, architectural decision-making, and close collaboration with product-focused engineers and stakeholders. You’ll help define best practices while delivering high-impact full-stack tools.

Your future role at QRT:
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable and user-friendly internal web applications
  • Lead a small team while staying involved in full-stack development
  • Make key architectural decisions and uphold strong engineering standards
  • Work closely with internal users to gather requirements and shape product features
  • Deliver iteratively using agile and lean principles
  • Build reusable components, services, and tooling with strong testing and CI/CD practices
Your present skillset:
  • Solid experience building full-stack applications, ideally using React and Node.js; Python experience is a plus
  • Strong understanding of modern frontend architectures and design principles
  • Experience developing backend services and APIs (REST or GraphQL)
  • Strong product and UX instincts, including the ability to gather and prioritise requirements
  • Experience leading or mentoring engineers
  • Experience with agile and/or lean development practices
  • Strong knowledge of testing methodologies and CI/CD workflows
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset
  • Fluency in English
