Lead end-to-end QA for complex embedded, AI-accelerated, and system-level software solutions within AMD's Robotics, Automotive, and Industrial verticals. Define QA strategy, validation plans, and automation frameworks across hardware-software boundaries to ensure deterministic and safety-critical reliability. Manage large-scale testing for robotics stacks (ROS/ROS2), automotive IVI/ADAS software, and industrial control systems, while coordinating across software, hardware, AI, and systems teams. Drive cross-functional program execution, issue triage, and governance for quality metrics and release readiness.

WHAT YOU DO AT AMD CHANGES EVERYTHING At AMD, our mission is to build great products that accelerate next-generation computing experiences—from AI and data centers, to PCs, gaming and embedded systems. Grounded in a culture of innovation and collaboration, we believe real progress comes from bold ideas, human ingenuity and a shared passion to create something extraordinary. When you join AMD, you’ll discover the real differentiator is our culture. We push the limits of innovation to solve the world’s most important challenges—striving for execution excellence, while being direct, humble, collaborative, and inclusive of diverse perspectives. Join us as we shape the future of AI and beyond. Together, we advance your career. Manager Robotics Software Validation Role Summary As a Software QA Manager in AMD’s Robotics, Automotive, and Industrial verticals, you will lead end‑to‑end quality assurance for complex embedded, AI‑accelerated, and system‑level software solutions. You will drive QA strategy, oversee validation across hardware‑software boundaries, ensure deterministic and safety‑critical reliability standards, and collaborate deeply with cross‑functional engineering teams. The role requires strong expertise in embedded systems, validation methodologies, automation frameworks, and leadership in high‑complexity environments such as robotics perception stacks, automotive IVI/ADAS software, industrial control systems, and heterogeneous compute platforms. Key Responsibilities 1. QA Strategy & Test Planning Define comprehensive test strategies, including risk‑based prioritization, test environment definition, and test data planning. Establish and implement QA methodologies, standards, automation frameworks, and quality metrics. Develop validation strategies spanning embedded software, firmware, drivers, AI/ML workloads, and system integrations across robotics and automotive platforms. 2. Validation Leadership Across Robotics, Automotive & Industrial Domains Lead large‑scale testing efforts for embedded applications with custom hardware, safety constraints, and real‑time performance requirements. Oversee QA for: Robotics runtime stacks (e.g., ROS/ROS2, robotics sensor pipelines, ISP/NPU/GPU accelerated image flows). Automotive IVI, SDV, Android HAL components, automotive driver stacks, and sensor processing. Industrial control systems requiring deterministic and reliable system responses. 3. Cross‑Functional Program Execution Coordinate closely with software, hardware, AI, and systems engineering to ensure validation readiness from feasibility to final release—mirroring AMD’s program‑management‑focused QA roles. Drive issue triage, root‑cause analysis, and cross‑team problem resolution. Ensure coverage and compliance across robotics, automotive safety expectations (such as ISO 26262 software‑related aspects), and industrial robustness requirements. 4. Automation & Tooling Ownership Own test automation strategy across embedded Linux, Android, real‑time OSes, and hardware‑accelerated compute platforms. Implement and maintain automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Python‑based frameworks, CI/CD‑integrated validation). Drive continuous improvement of test efficiency, reproducibility, and scalability across multi‑camera, multi‑sensor, and AI inference pipelines. 5. Quality Governance & Reporting Conduct internal audits to ensure process adherence. Report product health at release checkpoints using data‑driven quality metrics. Ensure non‑functional validation of scalability, operability, reliability, and safety—critical for robotics & automotive deployments. Required Qualifications Technical Skills Strong background in software QA, embedded systems, automation, and driver/firmware validation. Experience with: Robotics frameworks (ROS/ROS2), sensor fusion, camera pipelines, ISP/NPU/GPU accelerated processing Automotive software stacks (Android Automotive HAL, AUTOSAR concepts, IVI systems) Industrial automation and control systems (latency, determinism, reliability requirements) Knowledge of test automation tools (Selenium, Python frameworks, CI/CD systems). Understanding of data architecture and highly matrixed systems testing. Leadership & Management Experience managing QA teams and leading large testing efforts with cross‑functional dependency networks. Ability to mentor engineers, define KPIs, and build high‑performance QA processes. Strong communication skills in complex technical program environments—aligned with AMD’s expectations for QA leadership. Education Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or related fields. Certifications such as PMP, ITIL, Six Sigma, or ISO 9001 (preferred). Preferred Experience (Domain-Specific) Prior work in automotive, robotics, industrial automation, or safety‑critical systems. Experience in validating: AI/ML inference pipelines Multi‑sensor SLAM/perception modules Real‑time deterministic control software Heterogeneous compute (CPU/GPU/NPU/FPGA) validation workflows Understanding of safety, compliance, and certification frameworks relevant to automotive/industrial domains. Soft Skills Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and stakeholder‑management abilities. Ability to drive clarity amid technical ambiguity and multi‑team dependencies—highlighted as a key trait in AMD QA program roles. #LI-PK1 Benefits offered are described: AMD benefits at a glance. AMD does not accept unsolicited resumes from headhunters, recruitment agencies, or fee-based recruitment services. AMD and its subsidiaries are equal opportunity, inclusive employers and will consider all applicants without regard to age, ancestry, color, marital status, medical condition, mental or physical disability, national origin, race, religion, political and/or third-party affiliation, sex, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity, military or veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law. We encourage applications from all qualified candidates and will accommodate applicants’ needs under the respective laws throughout all stages of the recruitment and selection process. AMD may use Artificial Intelligence to help screen, assess or select applicants for this position. AMD’s “Responsible AI Policy” is available here. This posting is for an existing vacancy.
