Join Amazon Event Networking as a Network Development Engineer responsible for deploying network infrastructure for events and for deploying, scaling, and automating our network. You will identify opportunities to develop tooling and automate tasks to increase scaling velocity and reliability, contribute software development to services, and drive adherence to network standards across event deployments. You will work closely with internal customers to turn designs into production solutions, collaborating with teams across AWS, venue infrastructure, and data center equipment to ensure uninterrupted network access during events. The role requires a highly autonomous, communicative professional who can troubleshoot complex networking issues in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
The Event Network provides network connectivity for attendees and services at Amazon's premier events such as re:Invent. In this role you will look for innovative and creative ways to automate our network deployment, deliver next-gen solutions, optimize operational tasks.
We are seeking an experienced Network Development Engineer to join a highly skilled team that designs and automates networks for events and develops new solutions that improve the event networking experience for our customers.
Amazon Event Networking owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of the network service at Amazon's premier events such as re:Invent. We support all aspects of the network service at events, working with AWS, venue infrastructure, wired and wireless, and data center infrastructure equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the network during an event. We work on the challenging problems in the event space, with multiple variables impacting one event to the next.
You’ll join a diverse team of network engineers and TPM's, security experts and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across Amazon to help us deliver the highest standards for security while providing an uninterruptible network service. Key job responsibilities
As a Network Development Engineer working within Amazon Event Networking you will:
- Be responsible for deploying network infrastructure for all of our events.
- Deploy, scale and automate our network
- Identify opportunities and develop tooling and to increase scaling velocity and quality.
- Contribute software development to existing and new services
- Create simple, repeatable processes, and improve upon existing processes.
- Work closely with our internal customers on designs/solutions; bringing those designs/solutions from concept to production.
- Create and update our network standards and ensure that the network is deployed to these standards.
- Work closely with our teams in defining the platforms and frameworks that allow us to scale
Our ideal candidate is highly autonomous, possesses strong written and verbal communication skills, strong project management and time management skills and has a successful track record of designing simple, scalable solutions and troubleshooting complex network problems and delivering innovative solutions. The desire and ability to work in a fast paced, collaborative environment is essential.

Basic Qualifications
- 4+ years of major internet routing protocols experience- 4+ years of working in a Linux/Unix environment experience
- Experience with IP networking fundamentals and TCP/IP, UDP, DNS & DHCP
- Experience in Java/Perl/Python based automation
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ years of automation scripting using Python, Bash, Shell and/or Perl experience- Experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems, or experience dealing effectively with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure
- Experience in oral and written communication in English
- Knowledge of core internet technologies, including DHCP, DNS, mail transport, TCP/IP, and network file systems
- Experience with one or more of the following routers, switches, wireless controllers and firewall vendor platforms: Cisco, Juniper, Aruba, Arista, Fortinet, Palo Alto, etc.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
