Join Amazon Leo's SOLIS team to develop and sustain production test systems for the Optical Inter-Satellite Link manufacturing operations. You will lead system-level validation and integration of OISL test automation infrastructure, drive requirements and test strategies, and partner with hardware teams to define specifications. The role involves supporting production operations through troubleshooting, yield improvement, preventive maintenance, and cross-functional investigations to continuously improve system reliability. You will also contribute to test coverage, documentation, and knowledge transfer in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Amazon Leo is Amazon's low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. Its mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet to customers and communities around the world, and we've designed the system with the capacity, flexibility, and performance to serve a wide range of customers, from individual households to schools, hospitals, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity.

We're looking for a hands-on Systems Engineer with expertise in test automation infrastructure, system validation, and production support for our OISL (Optical Inter-Satellite Link) manufacturing operations.

Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

This is a role for a highly collaborative individual who will work within our SOLIS (Software Operations for Link Integration & Systems) team to maintain and optimize production test systems across global manufacturing sites.

We are looking for an engineer who combines strong technical expertise in systems integration with demonstrated ability to implement robust validation protocols, drive test strategies, and deliver continuous improvements in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key job responsibilities
• Lead system-level validation and integration of OISL test automation infrastructure
• Drive requirements management and documentation for production test systems
• Develop and maintain test strategies and validation protocols
• Partner with hardware teams to define specifications and test limits
• Support production operations through troubleshooting and yield improvement initiatives
• Implement preventive maintenance plans and system health monitoring solutions
• Lead investigations for complex technical issues requiring cross-functional coordination
• Drive continuous improvement projects to enhance system reliability and performance
• Provide technical leadership in design for testability (DFT) improvements
• Support software release validation and regression testing in pre-production environments
• Develop and maintain documentation for production support and knowledge transfer
• Create and optimize test processes at contract manufacturers
• Analyze system performance data to identify areas for optimization
• Support on-call rotation for production escalations
• Collaborate with Engineering teams on test coverage and architecture evolution
• Travel to manufacturing sites as needed for technical support

A day in the life
You will tackle challenging technical problems in a dynamic manufacturing environment while working with multiple teams across different locations. You'll balance immediate production support needs with long-term system improvements, requiring strong prioritization skills and ability to work effectively with ambiguity.

Basic Qualifications

- Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting large-scale infrastructure
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust
- Experience with Linux/Unix
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent
- 2+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with distributed systems at scale
- Experience writing technical documents, project plans and progress reports to leadership and to stakeholders
