Senior Staff Applications Engineer within Arm's Chip Methodology and Automation (CMA) team. You will deploy, train and support internal engineering flows across multiple sites, enabling efficient ramp-up and ongoing use of verification and implementation flows. You will collaborate with project leads, CMA design/methodology teams and EDA vendors to ensure tools meet project needs and operate as intended across the full design, verification and implementation life-cycle. Strong scripting, cross-site training, and global-team experience are essential, with a focus on shaping tools, flows and methodologies.

Job Overview:

The Chip Methodology and Automation (CMA) team within Arm Solutions Engineering (SE)develops tools, flows and methodologies deployed across all active SE projects. The team supports engineers in multiple sites including the UK (Manchester, Sheffield, Cambridge), India (Bangalore), France (Sophia), US (Austin, Chandler and San Diego) and Hungary (Budapest)!

Responsibilities:

As a senior member of the CMA Applications Engineering team, you will be responsible for the deployment, training and support of our internal engineering flows, enabling efficient engineer ramp-up and use across our portfolio of solutions, enabling project teams for execution success.

You will work with project Technical Leads and the CMA Design Methodology & Verification Methodology developers to ensure our front-end Design and Verification and Implementation flows are meeting the project team's needs and are operating as intended. You will provide training, ramp new teams in Arm and help shape the direction of our tools, flows and methodologies through your knowledge of the usage patterns across the teams. You will also collaborate closely with EDA vendors when issues are found in their tooling and ensure that provided solutions meet the expected criteria within Arm.

The flows you will support will include verification flows related to simulation, formal verification and design tooling such as lint, CDC/RDC, SDC, power-aware simulation, gate level simulation, and how they relate/interact with back-end flows covering the full implementation life-cycle.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Expert in Design or Verification flows used in SoC development, with a solid understanding of other aspects of SoC development outside your core domain, such as Implementation
  • Strong skills in scripting languages such as python, perl and PHP and flows used for version control such as svn, git, gerrit
  • Knowledge of databases and their application to engineering flows
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • A consistent record working with global teams

  • Small-team and people management skills
  • Experience working on global IP and SoC development projects
