Join Barclays as a Cross Markets Core Strat VP to design, develop and evolve a unified analytics infrastructure supporting Front Office users across all asset classes. You will build and migrate analytics within the Dart platform, creating reusable components, APIs and a centralized analytics catalog while ensuring robust testing and change management. The role requires close collaboration with UI, Reporting, Data and Front Office stakeholders to deliver production-grade solutions for trading, sales and quant teams. You will also own and maintain analytical libraries and provide quantitative expertise to optimise trading, pricing and risk workflows.

Join us as at Barclays as Cross Markets Core Strat to support the Analytics pillar of our Markets Front Office platform buildout. In this role, you will contribute to the design, development, and evolution of a unified analytics infrastructure that empowers decision-making across all asset classes in Markets. In addition, you will also drive the transition of existing analytics to strategic infrastructure.  Collaboration is central to this role—you will work closely with cross-functional teams across Core Strats, including User Interface, Reporting, and Data pillars, to deliver integrated, production-grade solutions that serve the needs of trading, sales, and quant stakeholders.

This role focuses on designing and implementing analytics models and tools within the Dart platform to support Front Office users across all asset classes, while delivering a unified analytics layer that serves as a single source of truth for trading, sales, and quant teams. It involves close collaboration with UI, Reporting, and Data teams to integrate analytics through robust APIs, as well as leading the migration of existing analytics by refactoring code, retiring outdated tools, and ensuring seamless continuity for users. The position also includes developing reusable analytics components, maintaining a centralized catalog for governance, embedding analytics into production workflows with strong change‑management and testing practices, engaging with Front Office stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions, and applying software‑engineering best practices to drive continuous improvement.

To be successful as a Core Strat you should have:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience with Python and relational databases (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server), including design, optimization, and maintenance.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills, with practical experience in statistics and data analysis.
  • Critical thinking, exceptional attention to detail, and independent problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders and cross-functional teams.

Other skills of value include:

  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau and STApps.
  • Exposure to financial products across Equities, Rates, FX, Credit, and Commodities.

Purpose of the role

To provide quantitative and analytical expertise to support trading strategies, risk management, and decision-making within the investment banking domain, applying quantitative analysis, mathematical modelling, and technology to optimise trading and investment opportunities. 

Accountabilities

  • Development and implementation of quantitative models and strategies to derive insight into market trends and optimize trading decisions, pricing, and risk management across various financial products and markets.
  • Working closely with sales teams to identify clients' needs and develop customised solutions.
  • In-depth research, data analysis, and statistical modelling to derive insights into market trends, pricing, and risk dynamics.
  • Provide front office infrastructure support though ownership and maintenance of analytical libraries.
  • Provision of expertise on quantitative methodologies, technological advancements, and industry best practices to drive innovation within the trading environment.

Vice President Expectations

  • To contribute or set strategy, drive requirements and make recommendations for change. Plan resources, budgets, and policies; manage and maintain policies/ processes; deliver continuous improvements and escalate breaches of policies/procedures..
