Linux Systems Administrator

We’re looking for a Linux System Administrator to help us ensure high availability and performance of mission-critical systems and implement automation to streamline operations. 

As a Linux Systems Administrator on our team, you’ll install, configure, and maintain Linux servers in physical and virtual environments, develop and maintain automation for routine tasks, monitor system performance, and implement security hardening. You’ll learn how to help clients overcome challenges through monitoring and performance management. You’ll analyze problem areas and opportunities for improvement in a mission-critical environment.

You’ll combine your technical knowledge and communication skills to turn metrics into information and articulate their meaning. This is an opportunity to gain experience in virtualization, configuration management, automation, networking, system design and architecture. We focus on growing as a team, so we’ll share techniques, work through challenges, and develop new methodologies together. You Have: 

• 1+ years of experience as a Linux systems administrator

• Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining physical and virtual Linux servers such as RHEL, CentOS, or Ubuntu 

• Experience monitoring system performance, including CPU, memory, or disk usage, using tools such as Nagios or Zabbix to ensure maximum uptime

• Experience developing and maintaining scripts in Bash or Python to automate repetitive tasks, backups, and deployments

• Secret clearance

• Bachelor’s degree in a Computer Science or IT field

Nice If You Have: 

• Experience with tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef

• Knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, firewalls, and VPNs

• Knowledge of implementing security measures such as SELinux, firewalls, patching, and hardening to protect against threats and ensure compliance

• RHCSA, RHCE, or CompTIA Linux+ Certification

Clearance:  

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Secret clearance is required.

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $53,000.00 to $108,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
