F5's NGINX Business Unit is seeking a seasoned Senior Software Engineer located in India. The role focuses on designing, developing, executing, and maintaining test plans for the NGINX commercial management planes, and requires strong hands-on contribution with minimal direct management. You will mentor junior engineers, drive improvements to the code quality process, and collaborate across distributed teams to improve tooling, automation, and infrastructure. A background in Python (and Go), cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), and experience with CI/CD pipelines and web technologies is essential.

Position Summary

F5's NGINX Business Unit is seeking a seasoned Senior Software Engineer primarily located in India. In this crucial role, you will assume direct responsibility for the design, development, execute and maintain test plans/test cases of our commercial management planes within the NGINX product line. Perform as an individual contributor and collaborate with peers under the direction of technical leads on assigned project teams. Requires little direct management to complete most development tasks.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and maintain test plans for functional, sustaining and compatibility testing.

  • Execute tests, report and verify defects for the functionality of our commercial management planes within the NGINX product line.

  • Document test plan and test results via test case management system.

  • Investigate test pipeline failures.

  • Mentor Junior engineers with various aspects of automation & encourage their technical growth.

  • Propose/define the process of how to best ensure code quality.

  • Champion code review process and provide meaningful feedback to other engineers to allow them to tone their skills and increase code quality.

  • Work cross-functionally integrating, testing, and debugging issues with existing system-wide software.

  • Collaborate with team members and technical leads in diverse, geographically distributed teams.

  • Build tools and infrastructure to improve F5’s components and features.

  • May conduct presentations internal and external.

  • May participate in the hiring and onboarding process.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Deep understanding of Web technologies (HTML, HTTP/HTTPS, REST APIs etc…)

  • Assess and address complex software malfunctions within the realm of network, security, and web technologies, including troubleshooting issues related to HTTP load balancers, API gateways (such as NGINX proxies), and similar systems.

  • A skilled coder in Python language. Knowledge of GO would be beneficial.

  • Experience with Gitlab CI/CD pipelines.

  • Knowledge and experience with cloud orchestration ecosystems like Kubernetes and AWS/Azure public clouds.

  • Knowledge and experience with test methodologies used in software development.

  • Knowledge of various automation tools, infrastructure and frameworks.

  • Demonstrated ability to research industry best practices, quickly integrate new technologies and explain to peers clearly and consistently.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree; and/or equivalent work experience.

  • 8+ years of software development experience in the automation field.
