We are seeking a motivated and talented AI Software Engineering Intern to join our team. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about automation, software development, and innovative problem‑solving. You will gain hands-on experience working in a dynamic, fast-paced engineering environment while contributing to projects that directly support Intel’s business goals.
As an AI Software Engineering Intern, you will collaborate closely with engineering and software teams to develop, test, and optimize automation scripts, tools, and applications. Your work will support seamless integration with existing systems and help improve operational efficiency across multiple workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in designing, developing, and maintaining automation scripts and tools.
- Support the integration, optimization, and testing of software applications that interface with Intel products or internal systems.
- Contribute to performance tuning, debugging, and enabling new features across operating systems and user‑level applications.
- Participate in troubleshooting automation-related issues and identifying areas for improvement.
- Collaborate closely with design teams, software engineers, and internal stakeholders to deliver robust, scalable, and secure solutions.
- Document processes, scripts, and technical findings to support knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
- As an intern, learn and apply new technical skills while gaining exposure to real-world engineering challenges and exploring future career opportunities through hands-on work on meaningful projects.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Technical Proficiency: Experience with programming languages such as Python, C++, or Go
- Familiarity with automation tools, scripting frameworks, or software development practices.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to diagnose and resolve automation or software‑related issues.
- Adaptability: Fast learner with the ability to adapt to new tools, technologies, and engineering processes.
- Hands-on experience building LLM-driven agentic workflows that can plan → call tools/APIs → observe results → iterate, with clear success/stop conditions and safe handoff when the agent can’t proceed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in automation projects, software development, internships, coursework, or research.
- Strong problem‑solving and analytical capabilities, especially in debugging and optimizing scripts or applications.
- Demonstrated learning agility and interest in emerging technologies.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills to collaborate across teams.
- Experience with common agent patterns and knowing when to use direct function/tool calling vs iterative agent loops to balance cost/latency and reliability.
- Familiarity with standardized tool integration approaches such as Model Context Protocol (MCP), including exposing/discovering tools via schemas and controlling tool invocation safely.
- Experience evaluating and monitoring agents in production, with regression datasets and repeatable evaluation workflows.
