The Role and Impact

As a Module Development Engineer for defect inspection tools, you will play a key role in advancing Intel's manufacturing capabilities and driving industry-leading innovations. You will leverage your expertise to lead the design, development, and optimization of sophisticated Optical and SEM tools to enable Intel's cutting-edge defect inspection technologies. This role empowers you to contribute to both high-volume manufacturing and technology pathfinding initiatives, influencing Intel's product design and operational excellence. By partnering with key equipment and material vendors, you will help develop solutions that shape the future of semiconductor technology while ensuring cost efficiency and scalability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive technology development for defect inspection toolset and enablement for both high volume manufacturing and future technology processes.
  • Lead the design and optimization of advanced manufacturing processes and reverse engineering solutions, including material selection, parameter optimization, equipment metrology, and system design.
  • Perform feasibility studies and pathfinding activities to enable innovative device architectures and next-generation roadmaps.
  • Collaborate with equipment and material suppliers to develop and implement enabling technologies that support Intel's future roadmap.
  • Recommend and implement modifications to enhance equipment performance, optimize production efficiency, and improve manufacturing techniques.
  • Conduct process technology feasibility studies using theoretical simulations and practical engineering approaches.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and technical advancements to align Intel's development efforts with evolving semiconductor needs.
  • Develop cost-sensitive roadmaps by partnering with vendors to push industry boundaries and meet Intel's technology goals.

Qualifications:

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Degree requirements:
    • Bachelor's degree in Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or a related STEM field with 6+ years of experience. OR
    • Master's degree in the same fields with 3+ years of experience. OR
    • PhD in the same fields with 2+ years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems and manage multiple priorities.
  • Proven experience in semiconductor processing, system controls, mechanical systems, or opto-mechanics.
  • Proficiency in process characterization, statistical process control, and manufacturing process improvement.
  • Technical expertise in process integration and equipment metrology.
  • Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Design of Experiments (DOE) principles.
  • Programming experience with tools such as Python or MATLAB.
  • Hands-on expertise in packaging processes and equipment development.
  • Strong adaptability to Intel's culture and technology landscape.
  • Flexibility in accommodating evolving business needs and priorities.
