Technology Support II in Markets Technology — Cash Equities Trading, based in Sydney, Australia. You will help ensure the operational stability, availability, and performance of production application flows across APAC cash equities desks. Responsibilities include troubleshooting, incident management and escalation, monitoring for anomalies, and coordinating changes to minimize risk, with a focus on continuous improvement and DevOps automation. As a Technology Support II team member in Markets Technology — Cash Equities Trading team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the operational stability, availability, and performance of production application flows. Your efforts in troubleshooting, maintaining, identifying, escalating, and resolving production service interruptions across DMA, algorithmic trading, and high‑frequency trading systems will support a seamless trader experience and a culture of continuous improvement.

Job responsibilities

  • Analyze and troubleshoot end‑to‑end production application flows supporting APAC cash equities desks (ECS, Single Stock, Program Trading, Prime, Equity Derivatives, Futures & Options).
  • Improve operational stability and availability through disciplined problem management, root‑cause analysis, and recurrence prevention.
  • Monitor production environments for anomalies (order flow integrity, latency, capacity) and address issues using standard observability tools.
  • Assist in the escalation and clear communication of issues and resolutions to trading, technology, QA, and platform stakeholders.
  • Identify trends and assist in the management of incidents, problems, and changes across full‑stack systems (including FIX connectivity, OMS, market gateways).
  • Plan, review, and execute application releases into production, coordinating change to minimize risk and ensure high‑quality deployments.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in monitoring, stability, resiliency, and capacity; contribute DevOps automation and tooling.
  • Act as regional subject matter expert for assigned products and applications; maintain runbooks, alerts, dashboards, and on‑call readiness.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • Formal training and / or certification in software development concepts and 2+ years of experience troubleshooting, resolving, and maintaining production technology services.
  • Strong knowledge of APAC equities markets and electronic trading products.
  • Solid understanding of FIX protocol and Order Management Systems in a large‑scale trading environment.
  • Proven experience in Linux/UNIX; ability to program in scripting languages for automation and diagnostics.
  • Exposure to observability and monitoring tools and techniques; familiarity with incident and change processes under ITIL.
  • Excellent analysis, problem‑solving, and investigation skills; confident communicator with senior trading stakeholders.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Python development experience (highly desirable).
  • Experience supporting algorithmic trading and dark pools.
  • Exposure to high‑frequency and low‑latency trading, including FPGA‑based workflows.
  • Familiarity with DevOps/SRE practices (CI/CD, observability, reliability engineering) and standard incident/change frameworks.
Ensure optimal tech performance in a key support role, driving stability and efficiency at a leading global financial firm.
