About this opportunity

Lloyds Banking Group is seeking an outstanding Associate Director to support the Global Markets business in ensuring robust governance and control of algorithmic trading activities, translating regulatory and control requirements into repeatable BAU processes.

The role will maintain audit readiness, deliver high-quality MI, and oversee the operating for eTrading and algo controls.

This role will report to the Head of Algo and Vendor Controls within Lloyds Bank Corporate Markets (LBCM) based in London 33 Old Broad Street.

Responsibilities include:

  • Implement and maintain control frameworks for algorithmic trading in line with MiFID II RTS6, PRA SS5/18, and internal standards.
  • Own the control operating of: attestations, reconciliations, monitoring reviews, issue remediation tracking, meeting packs, and action logs.
  • Maintain audit readiness through evidence packs, MI dashboards, and control hygiene.
  • Translate eTrading/algo controls into clear artefacts (inventories, testing evidence, approvals, governance papers).
  • Ensure closure of control actions with full traceability.
  • Support algo approval/change processes, testing and deployment controls, and monitoring of algo performance and risk metrics.
  • Build meaningful MI packs for governance forums, highlighting trends, exceptions, and actions.
  • Engage effectively with desks, technology teams, and control functions to drive timely delivery.

What is required:

  • Proven experience in 1LoD/2LoD controls, Ops Risk, or Markets COO functions.
  • Understanding of front-to-back trading flow and ability to translate across traders, risk, ops, and compliance.
  • Background in eTrading governance or algo control environments.
  • Experience with algo inventories, approval processes, kill switches, and RTS6-style frameworks.
  • Issue management and remediation experience (audit findings, KRIs, closure packs).
  • Familiarity with model governance and regulatory intersections (SS5/18, SS1/23).
  • Experience working with operational resilience, SDLC/change governance, and controls tooling (JIRA, Confluence, RCSA).
  • Skilled in Excel or using AI tools for MI; comfortable reconciling complex data sources.
  • Strong written communication for governance papers and briefing notes with ability to influence desks and tech teams.
