Senior Specialist – Site Reliability Engineer will strengthen the Production Management function and drive service reliability, automation, and operational excellence across the technology landscape. The role leads SRE transformation initiatives, including implementing SLIs/SLOs, reducing toil, automating BAU tasks, and championing observability and runbook culture. You will be responsible for incident leadership and root-cause analysis, performance engineering across databases, and collaborating with cloud platform teams (AWS/Azure) to adopt modern capabilities. The position involves cross-team collaboration to deliver reliability improvements across LCH and support production readiness across global delivery.

Role Profile
We are looking for a Senior Specialist – Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) to strengthen the Production Management function and drive service reliability, automation, and operational excellence across our technology landscape. This role demands a proactive, hands-on engineer with deep technical expertise and the ability to influence across teams. You will ensure stability, resilience, and performance of production systems while driving SRE transformation initiatives—including automation, cloud adoption, KPI improvement (“Path to Green”), and continuous improvement of support processes.
Key Responsibilities
SRE & Automation Strategy
- Lead SRE transformation work, implementing SLIs/SLOs, reducing toil, and improving production maturity.
- Automate manual BAU and operational processes, including monthly reporting automation, dashboards, and runbooks.
- Champion observability, proactive monitoring, runbook culture, and continuous improvement.
Incident & Problem Management
- Provide leadership during high‑severity incidents, ensuring end‑to‑end coordination, communication, and root cause analysis.
- Drive permanent fixes, eliminate repeat issues, and uplift problem‑management maturity.
Performance Engineering & Databases
- Lead performance tuning, scalability planning, and optimisation across SQL Server and other data platforms.
- Ensure application and infrastructure performance budgets are monitored and met.
Cloud Engineering & New Technology Adoption
- Bring proven hands-on experience in AWS or Azure, working with platform teams to optimise deployments and adopt modern capabilities (including AI assisted tooling where appropriate).
- Support cloud governance, compliance, and reliability patterns.
Cross‑Team Collaboration
- Work alongside Cross-Functional Team to deliver key reliability improvements across LCH
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Education:
- Degree educated or equivalent work experience
Required skills and experience
- 5+ years hands-on experience in SRE or Application Support functions, including BAU and production support.
- Deep technical expertise in SQL (and /or Oracle) including performance tuning, optimisation, diagnostics, and scalability.
- Proven experience delivering automation at scale using Python, scripting languages, CI/CD, IaC, and observability tooling like DataDog
- Experience defining and implementing SLOs/SLIs, incident management frameworks, and proactive reliability patterns.
- Strong track record of reducing toil using automation, event-driven remediation, and self-healing mechanisms.
- Experience working across multi-cloud environments (AWS or Azure).
- Understanding of change management, risk posture, CAB governance, and production readiness processes.
- Experience contributing to or leading performance engineering initiatives.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, particularly under pressure.
- Experience working with development teams using Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
- Familiarity with regulatory, compliance, or reporting systems is advantageous.

- Highly analytical with strong attention to detail and problem‑solving capability.
- Strong technical background spanning cloud, databases, automation, and performance engineering.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with technical and non‑technical stakeholders, including senior management.
- Able to translate complex technical issues into clear, concise language and action plans.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory or post‑trade environments is advantageous.
- Familiarity with financial products and terminology is desirable.
