Lead the end-to-end design, evolution and optimization of the observability platform and core backend services, ensuring alignment with stakeholder needs and product strategy. Location: Vilnius, Lithuania

Join our Observability Development team (ODev) and help shape the future of our observability platform. We design and deliver modern observability services and standardized practices that enable infrastructure and software engineers to build and run reliable systems.

As Chief Python Software Engineer, you will serve as a technical authority – driving cross-team initiatives, setting the vision for our platform and services, and promoting collaboration across diverse teams. You will work closely with colleagues in India, Lithuania, and Denmark. Your leadership will empower teams, enhance engineering practices, and deliver impactful solutions that advance observability across the Group.

You will:

  • Lead the end-to-end design, evolution and optimization of the observability platform and core backend services, ensuring alignment with stakeholder needs and product strategy
  • Define technical standards, engineering practices and quality measures for backend services, cloud-native delivery and automation-first ways of working
  • Guide complex cross-team initiatives, making technical choices and trade-offs transparent and ensuring an aligned technical direction across areas
  • Champion Python-based services using FastAPI or Django, applying API-first principles and designing for performance, resilience and operability
  • Ensure clean code, documentation, automated testing, CI/CD and secure-by-default practices across services
  • Mentor engineers, facilitate knowledge sharing and drive best practices across teams
  • Stay current with emerging AI technologies and evaluate their applicability to observability use cases
  • Collaborate closely with product owners, platform engineers and stakeholders to deliver impactful solutions

About you:

  • 7+ years of backend engineering experience with significant leadership responsibilities as an established subject matter expert
  • Proven experience designing and delivering observability platforms at scale, including microservices and event-driven architectures
  • Advanced proficiency in Python and modern backend frameworks such as FastAPI and Django, with knowledge of other programming languages like Go considered beneficial
  • Strong understanding of REST API design and API-first development, including versioning and documentation
  • Hands-on experience with AWS, skilled at Git, CI/CD and automated testing
  • Familiarity with clean coding practices and modern architectural patterns, with the ability to guide technical choices and trade-offs
  • Effective communication skills, able to represent the technical vision and advice stakeholders across teams, with upper-intermediate English proficiency
  • Self-driven with a strong sense of ownership, committed to mentoring and continuous improvement

Monthly salary range from 5440 EUR to 8160 EUR gross (based on your competencies relevant for the job).
