Your Impact

Based out of our San Jose office, you will work in McKinsey’s Survey Development group which provides online survey solutions to our global network of management consultants. Our goal is to assist McKinsey’s consultants to conduct research during client engagements by providing expertise and thought partnership to enable the quick setup of secure and effective survey solutions.
You’ll work in partnership with our global, multinational team, which works more like a small startup company. Our development teams are small, flexible and employ agile methodologies to quickly provide our consultants with the solutions they need.
You’ll work within a casual office culture which is fun and social with emphasis on continued education and innovation. You’ll have the freedom to try new ideas, experiment and consistently learn and grow.
You’ll align client and development teams around common measurable deliverables, act as a thought partner to the stakeholder, communicate regularly with clients all while ensuring accuracy and acceptability of the final product.
You’ll manage all phases of project implementation including requirement gathering, survey design, programming, QA, data collection and reporting. You will own end-to-end solution architecture across survey platforms, analytics, AI, and software engineering layers for client and Engagement and Practice-led engagements. Acting as solution owner and technical lead, accountable for design quality, scalability, security, and reuse.Design and implement advanced quantitative research solutions using Confirmit (Forsta), Qualtrics, and SurveySparrow, including complex logic, workflows, dashboards, and integrations.
You will also translate business and research requirements into scalable technical architecture spanning survey platforms, APIs, analytics pipelines, and cloud services; build automation-first and AI-enabled solutions, reducing manual survey configuration, data processing, and analysis effort; develop and maintain reusable assets: templates, accelerators, shared services, and reference architecture that can be deployed across engagements and Practices; lead development of custom backend services and integration using .NET, Node.js, and Python to connect survey platforms with analytics, data stores, and client systems; and ensure architectural coherence and technical risk management across multi-platform solutions (survey, analytics, cloud, frontend).

Your qualifications and skills

  • 10+ years of experience in solution design, technical architecture, or senior engineering roles, preferably in analytics, research technology, or data-driven platforms
  • Deep hands-on expertise with Confirmit (Forsta) and/or Qualtrics; strong experience with advanced scripting, APIs, workflows, and dashboarding
  • Experience integrating survey platforms with analytics stacks (Python, R, SQL), data warehouses (Snowflake), and visualization layers (Tableua, Forsta Studio, PowerBI)
  • Demonstrated ability to design for reuse and scale, creating assets that serve multiple engagements rather than one-off solutions
  • Comfortable operating as a senior technical authority, influencing stakeholders, making architectural trade-offs, and owning outcomes end to end
  • Prior experience in Project Management and exposure to the Agile mindset and Kanban method in solution/ product delivery
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, client negotiation, and relation-building skills
  • Great team collaboration skills including in a virtual team setup
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, i.e., the ability to apply a highly logical and well-organized approach to the analysis and resolution of issues 
  • Exceptional service attitude and the willingness to go the extra mile to provide outstanding deliverables
  • Possess excellent written/verbal communication, presentation skills
  • Willingness to work flexible hours if needed, public holidays, occasional after-hours, and “on-call” duties
