Join Commodities Technology as an Application Support Engineer responsible for building, supporting and maintaining in-house risk and analytics tools used by commodities portfolio management. You will provide L2/L3 production support, own the production environment for risk, analytics, trading, portfolio visualization, and market data, and monitor/automate alerts to ensure uptime. You will identify improvement areas, assess business risk for remediation, and coordinate issue handoffs across regions. Flexibility to work weekends and shifts for releases; become the go-to subject matter expert for your area.
Commodities Technology is responsible for building, managing, and maintaining applications and fundamental data for Commodities Portfolio management groups which allows them to manage their Risk and PnL.
We are assembling a strong technology team to build and support our next generation in-house risk and analytics tools. This team will provide L2/L3 support and have full ownership of the production environment for several key business lines (risk, analytics, trading, portfolio visualization, and market data).
Principal Responsibilities
Monitor and automate application and infrastructure alerts and be able to react quickly.
Ensure system stability and uptime for all tools and application under this team’s management. This includes application and infrastructure/cloud monitoring and checkouts, troubleshooting and user queries support.
Identify and develop areas of improvement and be able to accurately assess business risk to help prioritize remediation.
Administer outstanding issues are handed off to other regions and necessary follow-ups
Flexible to work over weekends and shifts for releases and meetings.
Become the go-to person for your area of responsibility - Build subject matter expertise.
Qualifications/Skills Required
Basic knowledge of Commodities products is a must.
Experience with Portfolio Manager/traders interaction.
5+ years Professional experience in Python, unix/shell scipting, and SQL is a must.
Knowledge around DevOps tools, ideally Docker/Kubernetes, Kafka, Maven, and AWS is good to have, not mandatory.
Self-starter with ability to quickly pick up new concepts and technologies (Public Cloud, Serverless architecture, etc.)
Highly motivated to take ownership of tasks until the completion.
