Join the global infrastructure team to engineer and operate the Linux platform across a rapidly growing estate used for trading activities. The role emphasizes automation, tooling, and standards for provisioning, configuration management, and platform lifecycle management. You will develop and maintain configuration management and orchestration systems (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef), improve observability and reliability, and own build and release workflows. Your future role within QRT:

The successful candidate will join the global infrastructure team at QRT. Working with application and support teams, you will be responsible for engineering the Linux platform for our rapidly growing global Linux estate which runs the bulk of the company’s trading activities. The role has a strong focus on automation, and you will be responsible for providing the tools, processes and standards we use to manage and expand our Linux environment.

Your Future Role within QRT

You will:

  • Engineer and operate the Linux platform across a rapidly growing global Linux estate

  • Build and evolve automation, tooling, and standards for provisioning, configuration management, and platform lifecycle management

  • Develop and maintain configuration management and orchestration systems (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef)

  • Improve platform observability using monitoring and logging tooling, and drive operational readiness through measurable reliability

  • Troubleshoot complex performance and stability issues across OS, networking, and application interfaces

  • Perform performance analysis and tuning across Linux systems and services

  • Contribute to platform engineering practices including source control, release processes, and documentation

  • Own and improve build and release workflows (packaging, repositories, compiling and customising open-source components

 

Your present skillset:

  • In-depth Linux expertise (e.g. RedHat-based distributions) in large-scale production environments

  • Experience engineering and administering Linux platforms used for latency-sensitive or high-throughput workloads

  • Strong background designing and operating automation/configuration management platforms (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef)

  • Experience with observability tooling such as Splunk, Elastic, Prometheus, and Grafana

  • Programming skills in Python and Bash (C/C++ knowledge is a plus)

  • Strong understanding of the server network stack and core protocols (e.g., TCP, UDP, IGMP) across LAN/WAN environments

  • Proven ability to conduct performance analysis and tuning

  • Experience working in collaborative engineering environments using source control

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including diagnosing multi-layer issues under pressure

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including producing and maintaining technical documentation

  • Experience with build/release management, including packaging, software repositories, and compiling/customising open-source software
