Join Red Hat's OpenStack Observability team as a Software Engineer, bridging OpenStack and OpenShift. You will contribute to OpenStack Telemetry and Kubernetes Operators, write test cases, and support CI pipelines. You will implement rules and tools to gain deeper insights into cloud infrastructure and usage, applying your SRE background to production-grade code. The role is based in Ireland with flexible work arrangements.
The Red Hat Engineering team is looking for a motivated and skilled Software Engineer to join us. In this role, you will be working in the middle-ground between OpenStack and OpenShift. As part of the OpenStack Observability team you will be contributing to OpenStack Observability and also to Observability components within OpenShift. You will also contribute to the Observability components for OpenStack. Your SRE background will help you with pouring your experience into code to give the “extra bit” of insights to the Cloud Operators.
What you will do
- Contribute to OpenStack Telemetry
- Contribute to OpenStack Kubernetes Operators
- Write test cases and support our Continuous Integration tests.
- Implement rules and tools to provide more insight in cloud infrastructure and cloud usage
What you will bring
- Experience with Python and/or Go.
- Experience with GitHub, GitLab, or other collaborative code forges
- Experience with Prometheus and Grafana
- Experience with OpenStack and Kubernetes
- Good communication skills in English, ability to work as part of a team
- A willingness to proactively utilize AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor and Claude Code for code generation, auto-completion, and intelligent suggestions to accelerate development cycles and enhance code quality.
- Open to exploring and experimenting with emerging AI technologies relevant to software development, proactively identifying opportunities to incorporate new AI capabilities into existing workflows and tooling
- Experience with OpenShift Operators and SRE background are a big plus
