Join the Spectacles Software Engineering Team as a Quality Engineer to design and develop build systems and testing tooling for the operating systems powering next-generation Spectacles wearable devices. You will design, develop, and maintain innovative testing approaches, including automation, and leverage AI tools to boost QA productivity. You will create and maintain QA documentation, test plans and test cases, test mobile applications on devices, and report bugs using Jira. You will collaborate with QA, Development, Design, and Program Management to resolve issues and drive process improvements to enhance product quality.

The Spectacles Software Engineering Team works at the intersection of the latest in camera technology and software systems. We are responsible for innovating and developing products that will change the paradigms of computing and, ultimately, impact how we interact with the world around us. We work on wearables and look to push the boundaries of what is possible.

We're looking for a Quality Engineer to join the Spectacles Software Engineering Team at Specs!  As a member of the team, you'll be responsible for designing and developing build systems and tooling for operating systems used by the next generation of Specs wearable computing devices such as Spectacles. Working from our Santa Monica office, you'll be collaborating closely with the Specs Product, Design, and Software teams locally and around the world.

What you’ll do:

  • Design, develop, and maintain innovative testing approaches, including automation ensuring all products meet the highest standards of performance and reliability before release.

  • Leverage the latest AI tools in daily QA and documentation tasks to boost personal and team productivity.

  • Create and maintain detailed documentation of QA processes, test plans, and test cases.

  • Test software applications on mobile devices and report critical information to aid in debugging.

  • Develop, document, and execute comprehensive test plans. Identify, document, and track bugs using Jira.

  • Monitor and triage reports from Jira and Crash Report Tooling.

  • Support manual testing of builds to identify regressions.

  • Develop lenses in Lens Studio to support manual and automated testing.

  • Collaborate closely with the QA team, Developers, Design and Program Managers to resolve issues efficiently.

  • Organize and run test sessions in the Santa Monica office with the local team.

  • Identify areas for process and product improvement, providing recommendations and driving initiatives to enhance product quality.

  • Manage and prioritize multiple projects, ensuring timely and successful execution of QA deliverables.

  • Regularly use the products to continuously improve test coverage and maintain stability.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong analytical, debugging, tracing and bisecting skills for interpreting and validating insights generated by AI-driven failure analysis systems.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • High attention to detail and excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Team player with strong communication and customer-focused skills.

  • Knowledge of IoT, consumer/networking electronics implementing BLE and WiFi.

  • Proven track record of designing and implementing test cases at the application and system level, integrating them into an automated test infrastructure.

  • Ability to thrive in uncertain, early prototype stages of a project.

  • Natural curiosity for products, new technology, and innovation.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as computer science or equivalent experience.

  • 2+ years of industry experience in quality assurance.

  • Experience with Python, C/C++, Java, or other scripting languages for writing and maintaining automation and unit tests.

  • Proficiency with QA tools (e.g. Jira / Git), and familiarity with common development environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Passion for AI tooling and maximizing its impact on QE quality and efficiency.

  • Experience designing, implementing, executing, and supporting stress and load testing against hardware devices, UI, and Cloud.

  • Familiarity with agile test tools and methodologies 

  • Experience testing IoT devices running Linux.

  • Passion for identifying and classifying issues to improve quality.

  • Strong passion for creativity and solving cutting-edge industry problems.
