Lead design and development of telemetry systems to monitor fleets of devices across Amazon's fulfillment network. Our team is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Software Development Engineer to join our Telemetry Engineering team as a technical leader.

Key job responsibilities
- In this role you will use your deep technical experience with software development to deliver projects end to end from design, implementation, and testing to launch.
- Your primary focus will be on leading design and development of systems that detect network disruptions and prevent network outages through data collection and observation.
- You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate telemetry solutions across network infrastructure.
- As a senior engineer, you'll have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers, and foster a culture of engineering and operational excellence.
- You will have the opportunity to participate in critical architectural decisions and help define the technical roadmap for the team, ensuring our telemetry systems remain robust and efficient.
- You will be empowered to think big, invent on behalf of our customers, make judgment calls and find elegant solutions to hard problems.

About the team
The Telemetry Engineering team designs and builds telemetry gathering and reporting systems at the heart of Amazon’s global delivery infrastructure. The software you build will run on millions of devices relied on by millions Amazon associates every day, at thousands of sites around the world, supporting hundreds of teams with a stake in delivering shipments to Amazon retail customers. Our mission is to design systems and platforms that set the global standard for performance, availability, security, and cost, enabling our customer fulfillment and logistics operations to deliver customer orders on time, every time.

Basic Qualifications

- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
- Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence

Preferred Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Experience building software using Rust

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
