Google is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to drive the AlloyDB project. You will provide technical leadership on high-impact projects, design and implement large-scale distributed systems and database capabilities, and influence architecture and product direction. You will work on features that improve availability and resilience, such as next-generation failover architectures and differentiators like Hot Standby. This role requires deep experience with large-scale infrastructure and relational databases, and collaboration across teams to deliver enterprise-grade Google Cloud solutions.

Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure or distributed systems.
- 2 years of experience using SQL or other relational databases.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- 8 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
- 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
- Experience in designing and developing large-scale distributed systems or relational databases, API, workflow, concurrency, multithreading and synchronization.

- Provide technical leadership on high-impact projects.
- Manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
- Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance large-scale software solutions.
- Design and implement the next-generation failover architecture for AlloyDB instances.
- Build key differentiators like Hot Standby that help AlloyDB deliver industry-leading availability to customers.
