Join Google Cloud's Cloud SQL Postgres team as a Staff Software Engineer responsible for the ongoing development and reliability of the managed PostgreSQL service. You will enhance and maintain the Cloud SQL Postgres offering, contribute to the PostgreSQL open source community, and help shape the team's long-term vision and technical direction. You will drive complex technical projects, plan execution, and provide leadership in a fast-paced environment, while partnering with product managers and cross-functional teams to deliver customer-focused solutions. Collaboration with customers and partner teams to improve Cloud SQL and GCP database offerings will be a core part of the role.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience programming in C++, Java, Python, Kotlin or Go.
  • 3 years of experience with relational database technologies such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, or Oracle.
  • Experience designing and developing relational databases, database internals, query processing, and query optimization.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 8 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional or cross-business projects.
