Capgemini seeks a Database Administrator (DBA) to support production database platforms (SQL Server, Oracle, and/or Azure Cosmos DB) focusing on stability, availability, performance, and incident resolution. The role involves day-to-day DBA activities including performance monitoring, backups/restores, capacity and health checks, security and access control, and incident/change/problem management, with on-call or shift-based support as required. Candidates with Azure Cosmos DB experience are welcome, or strong relational DBAs willing to upskill into Cosmos DB operations. This role requires working across relational and NoSQL environments in an enterprise production setting.

We are seeking for a Database Administrator (DBA) to support production database platforms in a run and support engagement. The primary objective is stability, availability, performance, and incident resolution across relational and NoSQL databases in production.

This role is open to:
• DBAs with existing Azure Cosmos DB support experience, or
• Strong relational DBAs (SQL Server and/or Oracle) who are willing and able to upskill into Cosmos DB operations

Must Have Skills & Experience
Core DBA & Production Support Skills
• Strong hands on experience with SQL Server and/or Oracle
• Experience supporting production databases in enterprise environments
• Strong troubleshooting skills for performance, availability, and data issues
• Experience with monitoring, alerting, and operational dashboards
• Comfortable working within incident, change, and problem management frameworks
• Willingness to participate in on call or shift based support, as required
• Strong understanding of:
◦ SQL and query execution (for relational databases)
◦ OLTP data models and indexing concepts
◦ Transactions, locking, and concurrency (relational context)
• Experience with database security fundamentals (users, roles, privileges)
• Foundational understanding of cloud concepts, preferably Azure:
◦ Subscriptions, resource groups, regions
◦ Basic networking and security concepts
• Open mindset toward NoSQL and distributed systems
• Willingness to upskill into Cosmos DB operations if not already experienced

Nice to Have / Bonus Skills
Azure & Cosmos DB
• Hands on experience supporting Azure Cosmos DB in production, including:
◦ Containers and items
◦ Request Units (RU/s)
◦ Partition keys (operational awareness)
• Experience with JSON based data models
• Exposure to Azure services such as:
◦ Azure SQL
◦ Azure Storage
◦ Azure Monitor
Automation & Support Tooling
• Basic scripting skills (PowerShell, Python, or similar)
• Familiarity with Git, CI/CD, or infrastructure automation concepts
• Exposure to ITIL, Agile, or DevOps aligned support environments
• Experience using Azure DevOps Boards for:
◦ Incident/change/problem tracking
◦ Kanban/Scrum workflows
◦ Operational work queues

Key Responsibilities


Production Database Support
• Administer, support, and troubleshoot SQL Server, Oracle, and/or Azure Cosmos DB in live production environments
• Perform day to day DBA support activities, including:
◦ Performance monitoring and tuning
◦ Backup, restore, and recovery
◦ Capacity and health checks
◦ Security, access control, and compliance
• Respond to incidents, service requests, and alerts within defined SLAs
• Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive actions

Azure Cosmos DB (Support & Operations)
• Provide operational support for Azure Cosmos DB environments under established architectures
• For candidates with Cosmos experience:
◦ Independently support Cosmos DB performance, availability, and operational issues
• For candidates without Cosmos experience:
◦ Upskill into Cosmos DB support, including:
▪ Throughput (RU/s) monitoring and cost awareness
▪ Partitioning awareness (diagnostics and issue triage, not design ownership)
▪ Latency, availability, and resiliency monitoring
• Use Azure monitoring and logging tools to identify and troubleshoot issues
• Escalate design level or architectural concerns appropriately while maintaining focus on run time stability
Operational Excellence
• Work closely with application, platform, and cloud teams to ensure reliable database operations
• Follow established incident, change, and problem management processes
• Maintain clear operational documentation, runbooks, and knowledge articles
• Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on operational stability and risk reduction
