Directs hands-on technical leadership and oversight of database administration for next-generation brokerage applications hosted on distributed databases and external cloud infrastructure. Manages installation, support, maintenance, and monitoring of Postgres, SQL Server, Oracle, and distributed SQL databases; familiar with IBM Mainframe and DB2 on zOS. Oversees database replication technologies (active-active setups, e.g., GoldenGate), cloud migrations to AWS, production monitoring, on-call support, DR planning, and cross-functional architectural coordination. Leads multiple teams across onshore and offshore, sets standards, and defines the team’s technical strategy and roadmap.

The Role
Provides hands-on technical leadership and technology oversight on projects to onboard and develop critical next generation brokerage applications on distributed databases -- setting up and migrating databases on external Cloud infrastructure. Installs, supports, maintains, and monitors Postgres, SQL Server, Oracle, Distributed SQL databases, and responds to alerts. Provides database support in all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). Possesses experience / exposure to IBM Mainframe and DB2 on zOS technologies. Has deep expertise & experience of database replication technologies including active-active replication setups. Draws on in-depth knowledge of the business or function to provide business-unit wide solutions. Evaluates and recommends new software products in support of the strategic direction of the business unit and participates in the research and recommendation of appropriate models, methods, tools, and technologies to achieve business-unit-wide solutions.
The Expertise and Skills You Bring:
Possess 10+ years hands-on experience in database application technology to including 3 or more distributed databases, e.g. Postgres, SQL Server, Oracle, Distributed SQL - installs, support, maintenance, and monitoring.
Possess deep expertise & experience of database replication technologies including active-active replication setups, e.g. GoldenGate
Possess experience / exposure to IBM Mainframe and DB2 on zOS technologies.
Possess experience setting up and migrating databases on external Cloud infrastructure (AWS).
Translates and incorporates business vision and strategy to application strategy recommendations at the functional level.
Provides production monitoring and support.
Designs databases, manages application releases, keeps an open dialogue with application teams, and manages and plans database infrastructure projects.
Oversees the technical implementation of cross-divisional or company architectural components.
Plans and leads organization wide- initiatives.
Provides leadership, technical supervision, and expertise to multiple teams in broad technical areas on complex organization-wide projects.
Performs application database administration functions and responds to alerts -- tuning, database application design, physical data modeling, and providing developer support.
Participates in on call support for production, database maintenance, housekeeping, and installations.
Performs project management functions across multiple projects using database administration resources across onshore and offshore teams.
Sets up and supports disaster recovery strategies and routine testing.
Collaborates with development teams in database design processes.
Supports ETL and other data movement technology development
Onboard new applications and clients.
Leads design, implementation and maintenance projects for database replication technologies
Establishes database standards for operations, upgrades, and migrations.
Diagnoses problem areas and provides solutions and workarounds based on application data needs.
Establishes and maintains standards and procedures by writing clear, concise, and well organized technical documentation.
Defines, maintains, and manages the team's overall technical strategy and integrated product roadmap.
Directs engineers to modify existing databases and database management systems.
