Lead and oversee the Institutional Brokerage Database Services COE to deliver end-to-end database engineering and administration for mission-critical platforms. Drive technical leadership across Oracle, Postgres, Distributed SQL, NoSQL, Snowflake, and related technologies, shaping database service capabilities and standards. Manage multiple initiatives, mentor teams, and lead proofs-of-concept to enable new technology solutions while coordinating with Systems Administrators, Cyber Security, and Capacity Planning. This role requires ownership, collaboration, and the ability to deliver scalable, resilient database solutions.

The Role
The Institutional Brokerage Database Services Center of Excellence (COE) is looking for a highly competent and highly motivated Director of Database Engineering & Administration with strong technical skills to build database engineering solutions for mission critical database platforms. This position would provide an excellent opportunity to work on leading database technologies like Oracle, Postgres, Distributed SQL, NoSQL, Snowflake etc. It is a great place to experience & learn end to end database service capabilities focused on application database administration & solutioning.
This role requires a creative mindset, high sense of ownership of the problems and requests assigned. Provides enormous opportunity to learn cutting edge technologies in the vast database technology landscape.
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
- 15+ years of experience in Oracle Database technologies with very proven understanding of end to end database tech-stack including Exadata, Postgres, Distributed SQL Databases and provide technical leadership for strategic projects. Db2 experience adds value as well.
- 5+ years of Cloud experience
The Skills You Bring
- 15+ experience in Oracle Database Administration / Performance Engineering / Replication Engineering across multiple platforms -- Linux and Engineered systems.
- 1+ experience in DB performance for other database platforms (Postgres, Snowflake, CockroachDB, MS SQL server, etc.) across multiple platforms -- Linux and Engineered systems.
- 5+ years of experience in Distributed replication technologies (Oracle Goldengate, EDB Replication, etc), preferred
- Experience with cloud databases platforms (AWS/Azure/Oracle OCI certification is helpful)
- Domain specialist in Oracle internals, Optimizer , Statistics management , Partition management , Physical implementation & Workload management for highly scalable and resilient database platforms.
- Sophisticated skills in Query Performance Tuning and Optimization, Oracle Enterprise Manager, Linux shell scripting, and writing database monitoring jobs in PL/SQL.
- Strong Linux shell scripting experience preferred with a good understanding of Linux Performance
- A good understanding of Oracle RAC related performance challenges
- Ability to work well in a team environment, as well as maintaining a positive attitude are a must
- Ability to develop and drive database performance standards, standard methodologies and initiatives. AWS cloud experience desired.
The Value You Deliver
- Perform applications database administration services including SQL code review, performance analysis, query tuning, database application design, physical data modeling, development support & Engineering.
- Lead proof of concept efforts to evaluate and enable new technology solutions
- Interface with enterprise teams for Systems Administrators, Cyber Security and Capacity Planning groups as and when situation demands
- Should have strong time management skills with willingness and ability to handle multiple projects/initiatives at the same time
- Self-motivated with strong team, interpersonal and communication skills!
- Establish database standards for operations, upgrades, migrations and onboarding new applications and/or clients
- Write clear, concise, well organized technical documentation to maintain standards and procedures

The Institutional Brokerage Database Services Center of Excellence (COE), provides business facing database solutions, encompassing the application/business aspects of databases, including database design, solution design, database engineering, application-data-database integration, data replication, performance consulting, deployment and support, using world-class methodologies & technologies. This team provides end to end database services for multiple database technologies like Db2, Oracle, Postgres, SQL Server, CockroachDB, DynamoDB, Aerospike, Snowflake, etc.
