We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Associate Director, Software Engineering Specialist.

Business: CTO Infrastructure

Principal responsibilities

  • Release and maintain standards and documents of OceanBase products within the group
  • Responsible for the integration of OceanBase with the group's mandatory product ecosystem
  • Responsible for the formulation of OceanBase life cycle and patch release plan
  • Ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the production system database, and ensure the elasticity and recoverability of the OceanBase database
  • Develop regular database emergency disaster recovery drill plans for application systems
  • Help service owner to optimize database and performance
  • According to the group cyber requirements, specify the database patch update plan. Evaluate and repair database vulnerabilities in a timely manner
  • Help service owners achieve regulatory compliance requirements for databases
  • Participate in broader discussions about future state software architecture.
  • Create and maintain monitoring solutions to be used in production database monitoring, capacity management, and incident detection and response.
  • Ensure Operational and compliance activities are undertaken, and remediation actions planned for services.
  • Investigate, triage, and troubleshoot production problems and use data to articulate impact with relentless attention to technical details and remediation for avoidance.
  • Develop and maintain tools used in investigating production problems.
  • Ensure that support documentation (runbooks and knowledge bases) are produced, maintained and improved to scale knowledge and embed best practices into the team.
  • Work closely with teams, product owners, agile coaches and other stakeholders to ensure we deliver world-class tools and capabilities for our engineering community.
  • Keep up to date and have expertise on current tools, technologies and areas like cyber security and regulations pertaining to aspects like data privacy, consent, data residency.
  • Perform production support and maintain of components which Team owns. With Technical expertise maintain, control and keep up to date with Technology and platform.
  • Assist in the coordination of compliance assurance reviews covering regulatory reporting responsibilities for Regulatory Compliance
  • Manage the implementation of database risk management enhancements to meet HSBC's regulatory and risk compliance requirements
  • Please be noted that this position carries potential consequence management from regulator in case of significant system outage lead to business impact or violation of regulations

Requirements

  • Education Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Work Experience Over 10 years of database management experience, including at least 3 years focused on the operations and management of OceanBase databases. Proficiency in the architecture principles, operations, performance optimization, and troubleshooting of OceanBase databases. Familiarity with Linux/Unix operating systems and the ability to troubleshoot system-level issues.
  • Technical Skills In-depth knowledge of database security strategies, including user access management, data encryption, and access control. Familiarity with regulatory requirements in the financial industry to ensure compliance in database operations. Strong understanding of financial industry business processes and core banking system requirements. Awareness of fintech industry trends and their impact on database technology.
  • Personal Qualities Strong team collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to respond quickly in high-pressure environments. Possessing relevant OceanBase certification. Experience with other mainstream databases (such as MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB). Familiarity with other domestic databases (such as TiDB, PolarDB, TDSQL). Experience in automation operations, with proficiency in tools such as Ansible, Jenkins, and Prometheus to improve work efficiency. Experience in database management for core systems in the financial technology industry. Familiarity with containerization and cloud-native technologies in the context of database applications. Experience in team management or project management.

Candidate with less relevant experience or skills may be offered a lower Global Career Band than stated above.
