Lead Infrastructure Engineer within JPMorgan Chase Corporate Technology, focusing on cloud database administration and infrastructure modernization. You will manage and optimize large-scale database environments across private and public clouds, migrating workloads to current database products and ensuring performance, resiliency, and 24/7 availability. You will drive infrastructure projects, monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, collaborate with developers to refine schemas and queries, and maintain comprehensive documentation. You may support releases, maintenance windows, and database upgrades as needed.

Job responsibilities
- Understand firm’s database infrastructure environment and technology modernization pathway. Work with application teams to help them migrate to the latest database products and versions on our private cloud or onto the public cloud. Once on these platforms you will use your expertise to help maximize the performance and resiliency of the application workloads.
- Applies technical expertise and problem-solving methodologies to projects of moderate scope
- Drives a workstream or project consisting of one or more infrastructure engineering technologies
- Works with other platforms to architect and implement changes required to resolve issues and modernize the organization and its technology processes
- Strongly considers upstream/downstream data and systems or technical implications and advises on mitigation actions
- Monitor and optimize database performance, capacity, and scalability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database issues, including query tuning, indexing, and deadlock resolution.
- Collaborate with developers to refine database schemas, optimize queries, and improve application performance.
- Ensure 24/7 availability and reliability for mission-critical systems through proactive monitoring and maintenance.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, processes, and operational procedures.
Support release deployments, maintenance windows, and database upgrades after hours and weekends as needed.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on infrastructure disciplines concepts and 5+ years applied experience
- Deep knowledge of one or more areas of infrastructure engineering such as hardware, networking terminology, databases, storage engineering, deployment practices, integration, automation, scaling, resilience, or performance assessments
- Deep knowledge of one specific infrastructure technology and scripting languages (e.g., Scripting, Python, etc.)
- Drives to continue to develop technical and cross-functional knowledge outside of the product
- Deep knowledge of cloud infrastructure and multiple cloud technologies with the ability to operate in and migrate across public and private clouds
- Experience working on enterprise database technologies, both SQL and No SQL databases.
- Experience working with services on multi cloud Cloud infrastructure. For example, AWS, Azure, GCP or OCI or Private Cloud.
- Experience migrating data across different database products.
- Experience working in a tier 1 financial services organization or similar industry.
- Experience in collaborating with application development teams to provide guidance on the best use of database services and infrastructure
- Experience working on alongside DevOps engineering
