The Research COO team is seeking a business and data analyst to deliver management reporting, improve business processes, and build scalable reporting solutions across Research. You will analyze large data sets, QA and clean data, distill insights for senior management, and automate routine data processes. The role partners closely with cross-divisional and international stakeholders and provides requirements to tech teams to develop a department-wide reporting platform.

Description:
The COO team at Morgan Stanley Research is seeking a strong business and data analyst with a keen ability to translate complex information into clear business insights. In this role, you will partner closely with colleagues across Research to deliver management reporting, enhance business processes, and create scalable solutions for recurring reporting needs. The ideal candidate is a self‑starter who is both detail‑oriented and intellectually curious, with a strong blend of business understanding and data literacy. We’re looking for someone who enjoys turning data into actionable insights and building efficient, repeatable reporting capabilities that drive impact across the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, analyze, and generate reports for metrics pertaining to research analysts and clients
  • Analyze large data sets to develop enhanced client engagement strategies
  • Conduct data analytics and distill insights into clear summaries for senior management
  • Automate and streamline routine data processes and email generation
  • Provide detailed requirements to tech teams to build department-wide reporting platform
  • Collaborate with team members and cross-divisional stakeholders in the US and overseas

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience with business and data analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to QA, clean data, & investigating data anomalies
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, STEM, finance, or related fields
  • Strong analytical and reasoning skills; able to decompose complex problems and projects into manageable pieces; comfortable suggesting and presenting solutions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Candidates should be analytical, insightful, detail-oriented, and collaborative
