This role involves designing, deploying, and maintaining relational and non-relational database systems in a front office support team environment. The engineer will optimize database performance and collaborate with various teams to support trading platform applications in a high-performance, low-latency setting.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Overview

Our Production Services Team is looking for an Engineer

with a strong foundation in database technologies—not just a traditional DBA, but someone who understands how databases fit into a broader system architecture and can collaborate across disciplines to optimize performance, reliability, and scalability.

This role is part of a front office support team, focused on application database engineering for trading platforms and directly supporting traders in a high-performance, low-latency environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and maintain relational and non-relational database systems.
  • Optimize database performance, indexing, and query execution plans.
  • Develop and maintain SQL scripts, stored procedures, and triggers.
  • Ensure database reliability, availability, and security across Linux-based systems.
  • Perform regular database backups, recovery testing, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Monitor system health and troubleshoot issues related to database performance and connectivity.
  • Collaborate with developers, data analysts, and DevOps teams to support data-driven applications.
  • Automate database maintenance tasks using shell scripting and other tools.

What we're looking for
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 1-5 years of experience in database engineering or administration.
  • Strong proficiency in Linux (shell scripting, system monitoring, cron jobs).
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL and experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle).
  • Familiarity with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Redis) is a plus
  • Experience with database monitoring and performance tuning tools.
  • Understanding of data integrity, normalization, and indexing strategies.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with cloud-based database services (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, GCP Cloud SQL).
  • Knowledge of database replication, clustering, and high availability setups.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Exposure to data warehousing and ETL processes.
