Principal Field Applications Engineer (FAE) to lead strategic technical engagements with Tier 1 hyperscale customers—from architectural exploration to product deployment. This silicon-focused, customer-facing role guides infrastructure design decisions, aligns customer requirements with Arm's roadmap, and accelerates adoption of Arm Cloud AI platforms. You will influence CPU configuration, memory/subsystem design, and interconnects, including PCIe Gen5/6 and CXL, and work on accelerator/heterogeneous compute integration. The role requires deep system expertise and travel (~25%), with collaboration across Account, Engineering, and Product teams.
About
At Arm, we are shaping the future of compute for cloud and AI infrastructure. Our hyperscale partners rely on Arm technology to deliver performance and efficiency at a massive scale.
We are seeking a Principal Field Applications Engineer (FAE) to lead strategic technical engagements with Tier 1 hyperscale customers - from early architectural exploration through product deployment. This is a deeply technical, customer-facing role. In this high-impact position, you will guide infrastructure design decisions, align customer requirements with Arm’s roadmap, and accelerate adoption of Arm-based platforms.
This is a silicon-focused, architecture-level role where you will influence CPU configuration, coherency fabric design, memory subsystem architecture, and large-scale system integration — from early definition through silicon bring-up and production.
You will work closely with Account, Engineering, and Product teams to ensure technical alignment and long-term customer success. This role requires deep system expertise, strong communication skills, and the ability to operate independently in dynamic environments. Approximately 25% travel is expected, including occasional UK trips.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive architecture-level engagements with hyperscaler customers across the full silicon lifecycle serving as their trusted technical advisor and aligning system designs with Arm’s roadmap
- Identify opportunities to implement Arm technology in partner designs and provide both pre-sales and post-sales technical leadership.
- Influence adoption of Arm Cloud AI solutions; including Arm CSS (Neoverse CPU configuration, core scaling, cache hierarchy, and coherency fabric topology, such as CMN)
- Advise on memory subsystem design (DDR5, HBM, NUMA scaling) and bandwidth/latency trade-offs
- Lead PCIe Gen5/6 and CXL integration engagements, including coherent memory expansion strategies
- Guide accelerator and heterogeneous compute integration within server-class SoCs
- Support partners using pre-silicon performance models to identify architectural bottlenecks prior to tape-out
- Collaborate with customers to optimize workloads, including cloud-native applications, HPC, AI/ML, and enterprise systems.
- Stay informed on trends in cloud infrastructure, systems architecture, and modern software stacks.
- Anticipate technical risks, manage escalations, and ensure timely issue resolution
- Communicate architectural concepts clearly to technical and executive audiences
- Drive technical alignment between customer silicon teams and Arm engineering
- Provide structured field feedback to influence product direction and competitive positioning decisions
- Drive alignment on firmware requirements by facilitating discussions between customers and internal engineering teams, and ensuring customer needs are clearly captured
- Own technical escalations by coordinating issue triage and resolution across customers, internal engineering teams, and ecosystem partners, driving issues to closure with clear communication and accountability.
Who You Are
- Deeply experienced infrastructure technologist with demonstrated success driving adoption of complex silicon platforms at hyperscale customers
- Comfortable operating across abstraction layers — from high-level architecture strategy to low-level technical details
- Proven ability to guide customers through evaluation, integration, and bring-up and production deployment of complex infrastructure technologies
- Clear, persuasive communicator who translates complex architectural concepts into actionable guidance for both technical and executive audiences
- Strategic advisor capable of influencing critical technical decisions in high-visibility, multi-company engagements
- Self-directed, adaptable, and credible in dynamic customer environments
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in EE, CE, CS, or related field
- 8+ years of experience in server SoC architecture, silicon integration, system engineering, or applications engineering
- Strong understanding of server-class CPU architecture and cache/memory hierarchy behavior
- Experience with coherency protocols (e.g., CHI) and scalable interconnect fabrics
- Solid knowledge of DDR5/HBM subsystems and NUMA architecture
- Exposure to integrating PCIe and familiarity with CXL in data center environments
- Exposure to pre-silicon modeling and/or post-silicon bring-up and validation
- Experience working with hyperscale or large cloud silicon programs
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in EE, CE, CS, or related field
- Experience with Arm CSS, Neoverse CPUs, CMN interconnect and System IP
- Experience with chiplet or multi-die server architectures
- Background in AI accelerator or heterogeneous compute integration
- Track record of influencing architecture decisions in production silicon programs
