HSBC is seeking an Associate Director for QIS Sales to originate and advance FIA/RILA/Fund-linked QIS opportunities within the US insurance market. The role requires proactive client coverage, multi-stakeholder alignment, and the ability to convert opportunities into committed mandates with measurable adoption. You will manage a credible pipeline, drive cross-functional collaboration with QIS Structuring, Research, and Sales leadership, and translate product narratives for both technical and commercial audiences. This position emphasizes disciplined follow-through, executive presence, and delivering timely product adoption and flow.

We are seeking a sales and origination professional to drive growth and adoption of our equity derivative and systematic index (QIS) products across the US insurance landscape. This role requires deep, proactive client coverage and the ability to advance complex opportunities through multi-stakeholder decision processes to committed outcomes and measurable adoption/flow. The ideal candidate is highly organized, persistent, and execution-oriented, with strong executive presence and a proven ability to translate momentum into results.
As our Associate Director, Quantitative Investment Solutions (QIS) Sales, you will:
- Originate new mandates and expansions: Source and advance FIA/RILA/Fund linked QIS opportunities with carriers and platforms; maintain a credible pipeline with clear stages, probability, economics, and timelines
- Drive enterprise consensus: Build alignment across carrier stakeholders including Investments/CIO, ALM/Hedging, Risk/Model Risk, Actuarial, Product, and as needed Legal/Compliance, Ops/Implementation, and Procurement
- Create urgency and forward motion: Maintain direct senior client connectivity; run disciplined follow-up; secure commitments with dated next steps; escalate appropriately to drive timely decisions and avoid stalled opportunities
- Enable commercial adoption: Engage Sales leadership, Product Marketing, Distribution Strategy, and key external distributors (IMOs/BGAs/platform gatekeepers) to support current and upcoming product launches
- Own narrative and positioning: Lead a clear, differentiated product story for both technical and commercial audiences; position effectively versus competitor indices and alternatives; address objections with decision-ready framing
- Partner with QIS Structuring and Research: Work closely with QIS Structuring (quant/product partners) to translate client needs into executable solutions and diligence materials that support approval and adoption
- Convert opportunities into committed mandates with clear attribution and realistic timelines
- Build coalitions across carrier decision-makers and distribution stakeholders
- Maintain momentum through crisp asks, tight follow-through, and strong accountability
- Launch translate into meaningful adoption/flow
You´ll likely have the following qualifications to succeed in this role:
- 5+ years of relevant experience in insurance origination/sales across insurance asset management sales, structured solutions, derivatives, or QIS-related products
- Demonstrated success advancing complex mandates through multi-stakeholder processes with measurable commercial outcomes
- Strong understanding of insurance ecosystem dynamics (carrier governance, ALM/hedging constraints, product lifecycle, distribution considerations)
- Executive communication skills with the ability to influence both technical and commercial audiences
- Highly organized (deal planning, action tracking, forecasting) and proactive (multi-threading, in-person engagement, persistence)

Your final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and several variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location.
