Join Atlassian as a Product Design Intern for a 12-week program (Nov 2026–Feb 2027) in Australia. You’ll gain exposure to the full design and product development process across products like Jira, Confluence, and Trello, and work on real product problems with cross-functional teams. You’ll be mentored by experienced designers and receive constructive feedback to grow your design practice. The role emphasizes collaboration with product designers, product managers, engineers, and researchers to create great user experiences and to experience Atlassian’s culture and programs.

Working at Atlassian

Atlassians can choose where they work – whether in an office, from home, or a combination of the two. That way, Atlassians have more control over supporting their family, personal goals, and other priorities. We can hire people in any country where we have a legal entity. As a distributed-first company, all interviews are conducted virtually. We hire in any country where we have a legal entity. Learn how we work at go.atlassian.com/distributed.

Your Future Org

Atlassian’s Intern program combines hands-on technical training, professional growth opportunities, dedicated mentorship, and strong social connections. This holistic approach empowers students to hit the ground running and sets them up for a successful and impactful career at Atlassian!

Applications will be accepted from Australian and New Zealand Citizens and Australian Permanent Residents.

Our paid internship program runs for 12 weeks between November 2026 - February 2027.

Your Future Team

As our Product Design intern, you will report to a manager in the Product Design team within the broader Design group. You'll work with writers, designers, developers, product managers, marketers, and support engineers to ensure that the stories we tell are consistent and create a great experience for our customers.

As part of your application, please include a link to your portfolio for our team to review. Pro Tip: When you submit your portfolio, it really helps to share in each case study a little bit about the problem you’re trying to solve, the process you followed and why, and some of the reasoning behind your design decisions. This will help the team get to know more about how you work as a designer!

  • Gain exposure to the full design & product development process: You’ll see how product designers work from discovery through delivery across products like Jira, Confluence, Trello, etc.

  • Work on real product problems: You’ll contribute to design work that impacts real users, rather than “practice” projects.

  • Be mentored by experienced designers: You’ll have support from Atlassian product designers who guide your work, feedback, and growth during the internship.

  • Collaborate cross‑functionally: You’ll work with:

    • Product designers

    • Product managers

    • Engineers

    • Sometimes researchers and content designers.

  • Experience Atlassian’s culture and programs: You’ll join company-wide and cross-regional initiatives, events, and design community activities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Able to commit to a 12-week full-time (40hrs/week) program from November 2026 - February 2027.

  • Currently enrolled full-time in a Bachelors or Masters degree program and returning to the program after the completion of the internship, graduating by December 2027.

  • Strong passion for user-focused design - caring deeply about solving real user problems.

  • Ability to handle multiple projects - plan your time and juggle design tasks effectively.

  • Collaboration mindset - enjoy working closely with engineers, PMs, and other designers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • An understanding of what constitutes good design, either through design/UI work of your own or working with designers in a team.

  • Experience driving decisions in the face of ambiguity and change.
