Senior UI/front-end engineer responsible for designing and delivering secure, stable, and scalable web user interfaces as part of an agile team. You will translate UI/UX wireframes into high-quality code using HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript and TypeScript, and work with modern JavaScript frameworks and component libraries. The role involves writing tests (Jest, Cypress), participating across the full SDLC, and applying CI/CD, resiliency, and security best practices. Exposure to cloud platforms and collaboration within cross-functional teams is expected.

As a Software Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Commercial & Investment Bank, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.

Job responsibilities

  • Executes standard software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting
  • Writes secure and high-quality code using the syntax of at least one programming language with limited guidance
  • Designs, develops, codes, and troubleshoots with consideration of upstream and downstream systems and technical implications
  • Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain to improve the value realized by automation
  • Applies technical troubleshooting to break down solutions and solve technical problems of basic complexity
  • Gathers, analyzes, and draws conclusions from large, diverse data sets to identify problems and contribute to decision-making in service of secure, stable application development
  • Learns and applies system processes, methodologies, and skills for the development of secure, stable code and systems
  • Adds to team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience
  • Hands-on experience in UI/front-end development, experience in UI/UX technologies. Translate UI/UX design wireframes into high-quality code.
  • Strong proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and TypeScript. Extensive experience with JavaScript frameworks.
  • Experience with UI testing frameworks (Jest, Cypress, etc.).
  • Experience build web applications modern component libraries
  • Experience across the whole Software Development Life Cycle
  • Exposure to agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
  • Emerging knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them
  • Understanding of ReactJS, REST APIs. Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus
  • Component Libraries such as Material, Ant or Chakra. UI Lifecycle and State management
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and build tools. Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
