The Red Hat Localization team is seeking an experienced Mandarin Technical Translator to work remotely from Australia. You will post-edit machine translations, translate software user interfaces and related documentation, and perform translation QA. You’ll collaborate with subject matter experts, technical writers, engineers, and other translators to clarify and improve translations, and use feedback from users to enhance Mandarin outputs. Bash is essential; Python is desirable, and experience with translation management systems and MT/LLM is a plus.

The Red Hat Localization team is looking for an experienced Technical Translator with Mandarin language skill to join us in Australia ( Remote ). In this role, you will be responsible for translations, translation reviews, and translation quality assurance (QA) of our software user interfaces and the documentation that teaches our customers how to use the software we produce. You'll collaborate with subject matter experts in and out of Japan, as well as with other translators working in the area of your language expertise.

What will you do:

  • Post-edit machine translations of Red Hat technical content into Mandarin, including software manuals and knowledgebase articles

  • Translate software user interfaces

  • Work collaboratively with other translators

  • Liaise with Red Hat's technical writers, software engineers, and subject-matter experts to clarify and improve translations

  • Use feedback from users of Red Hat's technical documentation in Japanese to improve translations; These users include Red Hat's customers and our internal customer-facing teams

What will you bring:

  • Professional or advanced translation ability and solid writing skills in Mandarin

  • A high level of Bash experience is essential. Python is desirable. Perl is nice-to-have.

  • Average and Beginner translation ability and writing skills in Japanese is a plus

  • Ability to collaborate with a global, cross-functional team

  • Ability to research IT topics to ensure accurate and high-quality translations

  • Prior experience localizing software user interfaces and documentation from English to Mandarin is a plus

  • Familiarity with translation management systems and MT/LLM is a plus

  • Experience in Engineering is a plus
