The Staff Content Designer will lead content design strategy and projects within Wise’s FinCrime teams, balancing regulatory obligations with exceptional customer experiences. The role involves simplifying complex compliance concepts, educating customers, and developing empathetic communications for vulnerable users while deterring bad actors.

Company Description

Wise is a global technology company, building the best way to move and manage the world’s money.
Min fees. Max ease. Full speed.

Whether people and businesses are sending money to another country, spending abroad, or making and receiving international payments, Wise is on a mission to make their lives easier and save them money.

As part of our team, you will be helping us create an entirely new network for the world's money.
For everyone, everywhere.

More about our mission and what we offer.

Job Description

How do you move money globally while not breaking the law? How do you take a complex, stressful experience and make it simple — calming, even? How do you challenge the way it’s always been done? These are just a few of the challenges a Staff (IC) Content Designer will work on as part of Wise’s global mission to build an open and fair financial system.

Your mission

You’ll lead content design strategy and projects, working across the cross-functional teams that make up FinCrime. You’ll help keep Wise safe for our customers, and balance meeting regulatory obligations with building world-class customer experiences.

We’re looking for someone who can take complex ideas and package them down to simple, neat concepts. Someone who can educate customers on what can and can’t be done via agreements like our Acceptable Use Policy and provide alternative ways to avoid account disabling and customer turnover.

About the role

All customers who use Wise must agree to our Acceptable Use Policy. It’s fully global and is the same for all of our customers, whether they’re using Wise for personal or business reasons. It’s the backbone for how we manage our regulatory and compliance responsibilities, but it also helps us increase growth by assessing risks on money movement and giving people grace when they’ve made a mistake.

Our ideal candidate can write with empathy but can also flex in tonality and approach (aka, be firm and clear about penalties when needed). We’re looking for someone who can shape our AUP into something that people can read, and who can help prevent violations of our AUP in new and experimental ways. This person will help us keep vulnerable parties on Wise safe but also defend against bad actors who are money laundering or financing terrorist activities.

Who you’ll be writing for

  • Vulnerable people and victims. You’d be driving empathetic communications for victims affected by scams and frauds, but also more proactive educational nudges and strategies around what is and isn’t allowed on Wise app money transfers. You would ensure comms like customer success emails, victim report flows, and educational nudges make people feel safe, secure, and cared for.

  • Bad actors. You’ll be working with Funds Risks teams who are looking to identify criminal activity (including money muling and fraudsters). You’ll be owning that as a concept and driving a TOV that’s fair and proportional.

For instance, how do we talk to customers who are at risk of violating our terms or whose money moving behaviors are not appropriate for Wise? You’d also help us develop strategies for how we increase trust in Wise and make people feel safer and more secure using our platform.

Heads up, this probably isn’t for you if:

Your experience is mostly in marketing content, advertising, copywriting, journalism or social media — and you have no hands-on experience of content design or working in UX.

Additional Information

For everyone, everywhere. We're people building money without borders — without judgement or prejudice, too. We believe teams are strongest when they are diverse, equitable and inclusive.

We're proud to have a truly international team, and we celebrate our differences.
Inclusive teams help us live our values and make sure every Wiser feels respected, empowered to contribute towards our mission and able to progress in their careers.
